Lump all income together (wages, capital gains, etc.) and subject this number to a continuous progressive tax function (i.e. no bracket nonsense) This function should be of logistic form or similar with a highly negative intercept. Allow dependents, retirement, and charity donations (possibly a couple others) as additional inputs that shift this function with diminishing returns to each. Other deductions eliminated. Taxes automatically deducted/rebated in each paycheck similar to current payroll taxes to establish de facto income floor.

Eliminate corporate and payroll taxes. Eliminate existing welfare programs, unemployment, and social security. Eliminate minimum wage laws. All duties of these existing programs rolled over into new tax system.

No carbon tax. Maintain pigouvian/sumptuary taxes on tobacco/alcohol/gasoline/etc. No national sales tax.

expropriate the wealth of the bourgeoisie

Isn't the bourgeoisie only the middle/merchant class? What about the industrialists and capitalist overlords?

I get the appeal behind making income tax brackets more rational, but an important part of taxation IMO is that the system should be easy to understand for everyone. If tax owing is expressed as y = a^2 + mx -b and that is before any deductions or credits are included, it's not going to give your average innumerate person confidence in the system.
