Um.

So, Gowdy has raised his profile greatly with the Benghazi! hearings. This week, people talk up Gowdy as Majority Leader, challenging Steve Scalise. He declines, gently. Then he announces he's leaving Washington.

What are the chances that he doesn't have some skeleton in the closet that someone who felt threatened by him was going to expose?

So maybe he's not retiring... Aide doesn't totally dismiss idea, but says Gowdy "has not made any announcement about 2016"

This could happen, wonder if he would still run in 2016 for reelection if he was planning on running for Gov in 2018.

I hate to be conspiratorial, but yeah, I think this is quite likely.

Good riddance.

But yeah, he's probably going to run for something else.

This has been the most exciting week in politics since Trump jumped into the presidential ring!

I'll trust Mulvaney over Fleming on this, needless to say. Him and Gowdy seem inseparable. It wouldn't surprise me if Gowdy bailed once his committee is all done, though.
