Yes, I said this in the Assembly thread, "Training the body is at least as important as training the mind, and we need to address that. This is a public health matter, considering that healthcare is, to some degree, socialized."

That's mostly my rationale. If we're going to educate people, the body is part of that. The issue with the previous bill that sought to do this is that it offered no exemption criteria for students who might be unable to participate in sports or strenuous physical activity. Obviously, if a person is PUP (physically unable to perform), then they should not be forced to do this.

But this is about increasing activity and awareness in an increasingly obese, sugar-laden, saturated-fat-consuming, super-size-it, video-game culture.

I also think if we're going to teach phys. ed., which I think we should, we need some standards, and this is some baseline stuff. The 1-mile run in fifteen minutes for a high school student is rather slow. Brisk walkers could probably walk that.

I hope you add skiing or snowboarding beacuse there are many children who do this in the Northeast up in the White Mountains and such.

seems like it'd be difficult to provide skiing and snowboarding at every school tbh
That's true but could you make an Admendment that says schools could make one if they want to???

yes, i realised, after i posted, that the bill already makes provisions:

so yeah i wouldn't necessarily oppose adding skiing and snowboarding (although we should be wary of overburdening the schools)

proposing an amendment:
