The right just lost its absolute majority, with 70/141 Deputies.

Hurray, I guess.

Yep, it's possible to check results by district (distrito), municipality (concelho) and parish (freguesia).

For instance: results for Carnota, a freguesia in the concelho of Alenquer belonging to the distrito of Lisboa:

I am a little bit proud about my Portugal.

After many years of a big crisis, no fascist or right-populist party has a chance. In other European countries it looks quite different.

Yeah, that's quite interesting, especially since PaF isn't really conservative when it comes to "identity" issues. The only reason for this I can think of is because of the fact that these "identity" issues are more salient in countries with a large Muslim minority, whereas Portugal is one of the EU countries with the smallest share of Muslims in its population. Of course there are many immigrants from Portugal's former African colonies and there will undoubtedly be racism, but these nativist sentiments might be less politically salient, just as a party aimed at negativity toward Surinamese would be much less popular in the Netherlands than the PVV.

I'm looking some results in the Açores and Madeira and wondering, why PSD and CDS are running in their own in the islands? It's funny, because in Açores PS is ahead (40.3%, 3 seats), while PSD is coming second (36.15%, 2 seats). The addition PPD/PSD and CDS-PP is nearly the same as the votes cast for the PS.

In Madeira, PPD-PSD gets 37.75% and 3 seats, PS 20.9% and 2, BE 10.66% and 1. Adding the votes cast for CDS-PP (6.02%), they could have won an additional seat at the expense of the PS. PPD/PSD is down from 49.39% in 2011 (Madeira is a stronghold). Juntos pelo Povo (Together for the People, JPP) is getting 6.93% in Madeira (the party was founded in the town of Santa Cruz) , while in the other districts they are running they don't reach 0.2%. The Portuguese constitution doesn't allow independent lists nor regional parties.

You've got to think that's from some lingering resentment of the Estado Novo.

Why is PaF doing so well in Lisboa? I thought the city leaned left.

The district as a whole leans a bit left, yes, but the city (concelho) itslef seems pretty much in line with the country.

Not so well. In 2011 PPD/PSD got 33.86% and CDS-PP 13.75%. Right now they are getting together 34.49%.

The southern suburbs of Lisboa are not part of the district of Lisboa, the are part of Setúbal and they are the stronghold of the left.

If there's going to be a right-wing minority government dependent of PS MPs' outside support, what are the chances that it will collapse before 2019?
