This is why checks and balances are a bad idea Smiley

Yes. We must abolish the Illinois general assembly. Only then will illinois recover

Tbh I would prefer abolishing state executives. Parliamentary systems ftw.

Yeah, I agree. IL's democratic legislature is trying to make sure Rauner won't get reelected.

Yeah, I mean, Republicans never do anything like this, especially not at the national level.

True, but I'm pointing out that this is a reality of American politics these days.

Politico piece on Rauner's rocky tenure so far.

Sounds like the people regret ousting their champion.

Yeah they do. If the Republicans aren't willing to stop it, then Democrats should be prepared and willing to fight them with their own tactics.

Pat Quinn managed to serve an entire term as Governor of Illinois without getting arrested. He is one of the greats.

Time will tell if Rauner will be able to match such a monumental achievement.

Madigan/IL Dems own Rauner as much as anyone. They should've found a strong primary challenger for Quinn but stuck with him and his toxicity.

Quinn wasnt going to retire and the Dems settled on running on 2018, than running on Quinn record. If Vallas, Daley, Madigan or Bill Foster runs, the seat flips back to Dems anyways.

Almost as hilarious as Rauner booting that proven failure out of office.
