It's revolting how Biden and his camp use his personal tragedies for political gain.

It's revolting how people jump on something done by a movement which isn't run by Joe Biden and then proceed to say it was done by "Joe Biden and his camp."

I thought the average forum-goer had the cognitive functioning to understand that a movement to draft Joe Biden isn't Joe Biden.

1.  I said "his camp", which includes anyone that flies under his banner.  This ad was made by his Super-PAC, and his supporters.

2.  Educate yourself about who leaked the story about Biden's son's dying wish for Biden to become President.  It was Biden.

Damn, you sure showed me. Nevermind the fact that you said "Biden and camp", which includes Biden, since he was literally the first person you mentioned.

He "leaked" a story that was never kept secret to begin with. How shameful. He should've just lied and made something up.

Biden asked Draft Biden Super PAC to not run new ad

Not neccessarily. The ad has come under criticism, notably from Obama/Biden campaign strategist David Axelrod who tweeted this a couple days ago

This exploitative angle was made even worse after the Politico article saying Biden was the one who leaked the thing about his son's deathbed plea for him to run. All the goodwill and sympathy for Biden would quickly evaporate if he was seen to be exploiting the death of his son.

If this is a thing, I think speculation ramps up over weekend and moves are made Monday-Tuesday

At this point, I'm leaning towards him running, but with Biden you never know.

Politico has story on how Biden would not use the 'Draft Biden' Super PAC

Coming in so late probably means Biden may not be able to do the pretend pre campaign stuff where he raises money for a Super PAC before officially announcing, or if he does have a 'pre campaign' fundraising period it can't last long but he can at least signal which Super PAC is his favorite.

At this point I think Biden will only run if Clinton has withdraw from the race or something like that.

It would be great if he just came out a minute or so after the debate began and was rolling the podium out with him and asked if he could join.

If it's even possible to pull something like this off in 2015, it would get a lot of cool buzz if Biden was a "surprise" debater tomorrow night, announcing his candidacy as his opening statement.

Well, it's an interesting proposition. I know he said if he did run he'd likely skip the debate, but what a great way to shake everything up if it was all a play. Can you imagine? All the candidates have been prepping for this debate with the assumption that the stage was set. All of a sudden, Joe Biden comes out of nowhere and announces he'll be running for president an hour or so before the start of the debate. He appears on stage and destabilizes the whole game.

It's a bit outlandish, but still well within the realm of what's possible. I would just love it if this scenario did materialize, and you know what? I think it's actually a decent strategy. It'd make one hell of a rollout.

rofl.

They just want him in, don't they?

Of course, think about the ratings if the Vice President just happens to appear out of nowhere in the debate.

No, don’t announce it an hour before the debate.  Have it be a surprise.  The debate will include questions submitted via Facebook.  So what if the first question is this?:

“Tonight represents a chance for the American people to see all of the Democratic candidates for president engage in rhetorical combat at the highest level.  So why is there one candidate missing from the stage?”

Anderson Cooper: I’m sorry, but Larry Lessig didn’t meet our criteria for inclusion.

Biden's voice from offstage: I’m not talking about Larry Lessig.

(Biden strolls onto stage)

Biden: I’m talking about the Vice President of the United States.

(everyone gasps)

Biden: Now let’s cut the malarky and get to why I’m here.  I’m here to declare my candidacy for president of the United States.

(Biden points to O’Malley)

Biden: Now move over Marty, I’m talking that spot.

The Democratic Party has to compete with Trump somehow. This would make for very interesting and entertaining television. I could see them going through with this.

In a month, most important filing deadlines are coming around anyway (many Super Tuesday states, NH and some big states like MI & FL).

So, if Biden's still not in by mid to late-November, then he has no chance anyway anymore ...

After pulling their previous ad at Biden's request, The Draft Biden PAC ran a new ad with a small $250k national cable TV spend before the debate.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RUNxejHftA

Also following the debate there is a lot of media coverage about how it has hurt Biden's chances, this NYT article is typical

LOL Biden. Jim "more time please!" Webb, and Lincoln "I voted for it because everyone else did too" Chafee definitely didn't do well.

Just make a decision already.
