Do you think Joe Biden would pick Elizabeth Warren as his running mate?

She would be a good pick... If she wants it, that is.

That would be a serious possibility.

Is there any indication she doesn't?  From her past comments, it seems clear that she would like to get out of the Senate soon if possible.  Win or lose, it would set her up as the undisputed frontrunner for the nomination in 2020.

I doubt she'd want to be VP, and would probably only agree if he promised her a one term pledge.

It would hurt the Democrats in swing states with a relatively small amount of liberals and many moderates.

No. She's relatively far-left, she's only six years younger than the man running to be our oldest President, and it's far more likely that he would pick the liberal-but-uncontroversial Gillibrand or someone from a swing state.

No, she would turn off so many swing state moderates. I think Heinrich, Warner or one of the Castro brothers would be a good option for Biden.

I get that that's the traditional logic, but does it really stand today?

It seems like more and more traditional "moderate" swing voters don't matter as much and it's more about who has the larger built-in base and their ability to turn it out.

I find her kind of shrill, and not "Presidential".  She's also from Massachusetts, and that never seems to be a plus for candidates of either party.  I was kind of put off by her sucking up to the BLM folks, who have some valid points, but are, in no small measure, advocating the right of criminals to resist arrest without consequence.

Of those? I prefer Heinrich.

The real question is why would he be trying to pick Bernie's running-mate?

I wouldn't want him to and I think that anybody whose a fan of her's who wants her as a VP pick is crazy. She'd be in an essentially powerless role for 4-8 years and would be well into her 70s by the time the job was finished. Much better to have her in the senate doing what she does best.

Good Lord.

She's also from Massachusetts Oklahoma...

Fixed it for you.  She got her primary degree in Texas.  Just FYI.

Before someone on Atlas suggests otherwise, no, it won't help the Dems win either state.

If the primary came down to Biden, Sanders, and Clinton and Biden managed to edge out Clinton and Sanders, Warren would be his best pick for running mate. She can appease both the Sanders progressive and first woman President wings of the Party and unite them under Biden in a way that no other candidate can.

I think a Biden/Warren ticket is highly likely if he chooses to run for President.

Biden is too old to put someone like Warren on the ticket. You need a reliable foot soldier.

If Biden is the nominee, he will have already picked Warren. Effectively. His people leaking their meeting to the press tips that they, smartly, would not try to compete against Clinton and Sanders alone (he won't win that way) but as a buzzed about Biden-Warren ticket with Biden to serve one term. A presidential candidate still competing for the nomination never says who they would tap to be their running mate but (a) if anyone is going to say something people usually left unsaid it's Biden (b) this unspoken rule has evolved a bit. Scott Walker pushed the idea of Rubio as his VP to try and siphon off Rubio supporters. Warren has good discipline and would refuse to answer the question but I think she probably would accept if asked. But to answer the question, yes, Biden would pick Warren, and by the time he does, it'd be a formality. She would probably help or at least not hurt in the general.

That said, it still feels 50/50 he doesn't even run because Hillary will be extremely tough to beat.
