If I were mayor of NYC I'd push for abolishing Columbus Day and a de facto ban by banning any parade permits on it and thus making any such parades "unlawful gatherings".

Isn't the NYC Columbus Day Parade a celebration of Italian-American contributions and culture?

Moreover, I don't think you can "Black Out" a specific day of the year for parades/gatherings without running into some pretty serious First Amendment issues.

If you want an Italian-American holiday, why not replace it with Guy Picciotto Day?

The most you can do without violating the first amendment is no longer officially acknowledging the holiday. "Banning" people from celebrating the holiday is unconstitutional.

The US should change the name of it (or just get rid of it, we have plenty of holidays), but obviously we shouldn't be banning parades.  That's a dick move.

La Guardia day would make more sense.

Oh, Commie, I wish J. Edgar was around to harass you people out of the country.

Columbus Day is a traditionally American holiday. SJWs and social communists abhor anything traditionally American.

Crab isn't American lol

There's nothing more traditionally American than mass murder of Indians.

Also, by the way, banning public gatherings/parades on such a day is stupid and a violation of First Amendment rights. A much better Italian American Day would celebrate LaGuardia - that guy was a good man.

As a subject of the British Crown, Hoover has no dominion over me. In fact, given that Colombus was working on behalf of our enemies the Spanish, I'm probably obligated to call him out as a scuzzball.

*dresses up as a fifteenth century explorer and rides on a parade float that resembles a three-masted ship in several cities, including New York City and Minneapolis*

The majority of states no longer observe Columbus Day, so I guess getting rid of it wouldn't be too bad. Now that white assimilation happened we don't need to give a certain group of whites their own holiday.
