Kevin McCarthy unexpectedly DROPS OUT of the Speaker's race, which everyone  thought he would still win in a landslide.

There's absolute chaos in the House right now. No one knows if Boehner might stay on after all, or if the GOP will be so divided that Nancy Pelosi might accidentally become Speaker, or what.

The definition of a political party means you follow a leader to pursue common political goals. The House GOP is no longer a party.

Everybody thought Kevin McCarthy was unbeatable, right? But then we actually heard him speak. What are his numbers today? He's dropping out. Why? Because he's un-trustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened had we not fought and made that happen.

Schadenfreude at its finest.

What a disaster. But I find this hilarious, Fox ran this article about an hour ago:

Like someone said on twitter "Benghazi committee tries to take out Hillary, takes out McCarthy instead".

Plot twist: Boehner is actually a Democrat in deep cover and resigned to throw the house GOP into utter chaos.

Huh? This isn't a country with party-list representation. Parties in America have always been big-tent coalitions without single leaders.

Any chance they elect someone who isn't a Congressman, like Romney?

Do you think Romney would even want the position? He's not really a legislative guy.

The only possibility I see of this is if Webster wins but then can't hold his seat because of the re-redistricting.

So...do we get a caretaker Speaker for until 2017, maybe?

What happens vlto the Majority Leader race? Does Scalise just hang up his white hood and go home or does he challenge McCarthy?

Paul Ryan says.... there's no way he'll do it either.

At this point, anything is possible.

Huh? This isn't a country with party-list representation. Parties in America have always been big-tent coalitions without single leaders.
Coalitions are only coalitions if they can come together, if there's someone who can represent them and make deals for them.

<looks at your sig>
un-trustable heh?

Florida voters give Clinton a negative 44 - 51 percent favorability rating and say 59 - 35 percent that she is not honest and trustworthy.

<snip>

Ohio voters give Clinton a negative 38 - 56 percent favorability rating and say 61 - 33 percent she is not honest and trustworthy.

<snip>

Pennsylvania voters give Clinton a negative 41 - 54 percent favorability rating and say 61 - 34 percent she is not honest and trustworthy.

Trump, the second most unliked and untrusted, beats her in every one of those.

Schadenfreude indeed.

(unless your sig is some kind of joke I don't get, in which case, ignore this post)

The post was clearly a parody of what McCarthy said on Hannity that torpedoed his speakership.

Maybe, I don't watch Hannity, not sure why anybody would.  Doesn't really change the point of my post I don't think.  (unless, again, his sig is some kind of joke I don't get)

Um, it's kind of been the major headline for the last 2 weeks in the political world, for both Congress and the Presidential Race.

I had heard he was "unbeatable", but I hadn't heard him speak.  I listen to NPR (nearly) everyday, watch a little news on the PBS, I knew of the guy.  Him speaking on Hannity certainly wasn't an everyday headline for two weeks.

...and I still don't get why it would negate me making fun of a Clinton fan for making fun of another politico for being untrustable.

It kind of was. It was shown again and again on MSNBC and CNN, in news articles online, it's dominated the conversation, etc. This just proves only listening to NPR and bits of PBS can make you really out of touch.
