Ross Perot was a right-wing third party candidate. Ralph Nader was a left-wing third party candidate. But theirs maps were not different. Both had good results in the New England and in the West.
Their results are not related to any of the two major parties. Both Ross Perot and Ralph Nader performed well in the very republican Alaska and in the very democratic Rhode Island.

Well, in Alaska's case they are somewhat independent minded when it comes to voting for third parties, outside of NM, it was one of Gary Johnson's best states. Perot appealed to both Democrats and Republicans and pulled about equally from Clinton and Bush and in 92 and 00 people were generally tired of the normal candidates (Bush, Clinton and Bush, Gore) so they were more apt to vote for third parties. Of course it's more complicated than that.

Many Perot voters switched to Nader in 2000 because he wasn't part of the two-party system. Also, Democrats in the West and Alaska are largely made up of environmentalists, so it shouldn't be surprising that Nader did well in these states.

It could be opposition to NAFTA.

It's not entirely accurate to describe Perot as merely "right-wing" (or left-wing for that matter)

I would say Perot's 1992 map had more similarity to LaFollet's map in 1924 (minus the strong northeastern performance, so regarding support out West), than Nader 2000.*

Montana, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Vermont and Oregon like third-party candidates for some reason.

*though tbh, I don't feel there's much similarity at all
