If Kevin McCarthy's admission that the Benghazi Committee was all about Hillary wasn't bad enough, now comes this....

This case and McCarthy's gaffe (and related dropout of Speakership) has changed the way the media is going to cover the upcoming Hillary testimony. It may also factor into the Biden calculus. He may have been hoping the Committee could take her down and he can then jump in as savior.

While this man is a hero for going public with this, I hope it & McCarthy's honest remark don't become this election's 2008 New Hampshire primary (aka something that saves Hillary from defeat at the last minute). Maybe Hillary will cry on cue again, that always works with swing voters.

Bill O'Reilly also said the Benghazi Committee is entirely political and about bringing Hillary down.

He's a low life scumbag, trying to undermine a legitimate criminal investigation. His ass needed to be fired for not doing his job, "cry me a river"😠

This investigation was a waste of taxpayer money.

This investigation, along with a lot of other factors, begs the question as to whether or not the GOP is a party that deserves to govern at any level, given its present composition.  They are not a "loyal opposition"; they are a fringe party that is controlled by a minority of schnooks that feel free to shut down the government at will.

The Democrats have their own faults, but they have been far more of a "loyal opposition" than the GOP has been.  While the level of hyper-partisanship has ramped up since 1994 (a consequence of the narrowing of ideology within both parties), the Democrats never tried to shut down the entire government as these Republicans have.

Why did Woodrow Wilson ultimately fail on his most far reaching initiative, the League of Nations and the Peace Treaty ending WWI?  Wilson could not compromise; he could not accept the treaty as approved by the Senate because it contained a number of Republican "reservations", which were somewhat meaningless, but it gave the treaty a Republican wrapper.  Wilson overstated the effect these reservations as amendments that "nullified" the treaty, to where he actively worked for a deadlock, then went on a speaking tour to try to shift public opinion in his favor it didn't work.  The Republicans would not budge off their reservations; they voted FOR the League of Nations WITH RESERVATIONS.  Wilson instructed his Democrats to reject this, and most did; they joined forces with the uber-isolationists who wanted no treaty, period.  This is how the United States stayed out of the League of Nations; it is also how the ultimate Treaty of Versailles came about that punished Germany to the point where a Hitler was able to come about.  This happened because of Henry Cabot Lodge's hatred of Wilson, and because of his belief that Wilson would not compromise solely out of vanity.  They knew that the treaty was in America's interest, but their goal was driving the Democrats out of power in 1920, so they pushed these "reservations" which, unfortunately, Wilson awfulized.

Sound familiar?  The difference is that today, Obama is less stiff-necked than Wilson, but the Republicans have the numbers to tie up everything.  The Iran deal, for example, is kind of a deal "with reservations" that don't really affect anything.  But this GOP doesn't care; they ONLY WANT POWER.  They have either not thought about the ramifications of America backing out of an agreement that they have negotiated with other nations, or they just don't care.

I have come to believe that today's Republicans need to be crushed at the polls in order to bring them to their senses.  The crushing won't last long; the GOP recovered from their 1974-76 drubbings to elect Reagan and take the Senate in 1980.  The level of irresponsibility of this particular Republican party is scary.  The Democrats aren't great, but they are, at least, acceptable.  These Congressional Republicans are a disgrace.

It's not a waste of time, if it undermines Hillary Clinton and that's the whole goal of why it was established in the first place. Shame Kevin McCarthy had to open his big trap!

Hopefully this puts an end to the Benghazi non-sense.  That being said, it'll be a shame if Hillary is able to use this to shut down the questions surrounding her e-mails because unlike with the Benghazi stuff, there are legitimate issues there which haven't been addressed in a meaningful way and her handling of the e-mail scandal (which could admittedly prove to be much ado about nothing, but I doubt it) raises concerns about both her judgement and whether she has learned anything from 2008 about how to handle political attacks/uncomfortable subjects (it would appear not).  Of course, any investigation into the e-mails by congressional Republicans would obviously be a witch hunt, but that doesn't mean she should be let off the hook for the stuff with her e-mails/use of a private server without any further investigation either.

It shows the Obama administration having lacked specific knowledge that would have thwarted the attack. It shows a willingness to cripple foreign policy for some transitory advantage in partisan politics.

We used to say that partisan politics stops at the shores. Most Democrats wanted Dubya to succeed in overthrowing Satan Hussein and establishing a new and more humane social order in Iraq that could last indefinitely.

Someone is going to expose scummy behavior in one's own camp. Someone will brag about what he did to Democrats or someone will get an attack of conscience. Then it all falls apart.

Blackmail and disinformation are inappropriate tools of democratic politics; indeed their presence suggests a compromise of responsible government.

It may be for naught. Recent polls show Joe Biden doing about as well as Hillary Clinton was doing before the witch-hint on Benghazi and the exposure of the e-mail documents that have turned out to be 'no harm/no foul'. If the Republicans have no substantive changes to offer other than subservience to the Koch syndicate, then they deserve to lose badly in 2016.

Well this would be ironic if true to say the least:
