By "scouting", do you mean like Boy Scouts?

Phys. Ed. definitely - its inclusion in education goes way, way back, but scouting? I have very severe reservations, not the least of which have to do the "values" that scouting tries to impart. Not only does the activity itself not seem essential to education, I'm not sure that the whole values thing belongs there. Let parents and families decide that on their own.

Likely will not support.

Scouting's not a bad thing, but I'm not really that into making it mandatory.

As there has not been much debate on this bill (or any within the last five days), I will extend the period for debate for 24 hours.

I probably won't support this - I don't think we should require our children to take part in scouting activities.

As an actual Boy Scout, I agree. Nobody should be required to join. I will oppose this bill as it currently stands.

Actually, as RGN is on leave and everybody else seems to be opposed, I think I'll actually end debate now, if that's okay with everybody. I'll bring it up to a vote in ~25 minutes if there are no objections.

Alright, putting this up for a vote. Representatives have 48 hours to vote.

I agree that mandatory is the issue - I'd be open to giving people credit for doing it for something, but not mandatory for the aforementioned reasons.

No.

With Representative RGN08 on leave, the bill fails 4-0.
