Thank god Webb has some balls to shut down Anderson Cooper's bullsh**t.
Lincoln Chafee looks like he's trying to hide a hangover.

Anderson:  "30 seconds each, greatest national security threat."
Chafee:  *five second answer*
Anderson:  *cuts him off* ok, governor O'Malley?

#1 zinger of the night right there, Hil'.

"My question is, do black lives matter, or do all lives matter?"

"Black lives matter" (with the clearly implied "it is not true that all lives matter") is the "would you promise to never raise any taxes no matter what period" of this campaign.  An absurd pledge that all the candidates are forced to make to avoid the wrath of idiots in the base.

I like Webb.  He's god damn brave.  Maybe knowing you have no chance gives you courage.

That's also true for the Republicans, but I absolutely agree.

Yeah, the tax thing was an absurd pledge for the Republicans last year.  I remember in Double Down that Huntsman was overwhelmed with shame when a moderator asked everyone on stage "raise your hand if you wouldn't accept a 10-to-1 spending cut to tax increase" and he raised his hand.

I can't wait for the speaking time and question aggregations after this.

I think Sanders and Clinton have gotten nearly every question and 85% of the speaking time.

lol at Chafee's awkward shy grin.  "Give me a break, my dad had died, I was totally clueless."  And O'Malley is standing there like a giant statue of shame.

Here's a chart of number of questions as of a few minutes ago. http://fivethirtyeight.com/live-blog/first-democratic-debate-election-2016/?#livepress-update-20182501

I absolutely do not believe that.  The idiots at 538 must not be counting the follow-up questions, i.e. "with all due respect Senator Clinton, aren't you terrible, for real?"  either that or they're counting every time Anderson cuts off Webb as a question.

O'Malley does better when he's on camera and not speaking than when he's speaking.
The guy has a great resting face/stance.  He just looks strong, patient, the face of justice.

Also Jesus Christ will Anderson Cooper shut the f**k up?!  When Webb's speaking... "thank you senator" "thank you senator" "thank you senator" "thank you senator" he's like a scratch on a record or a broken antenna.  Just breaking everything up and ruining it and annoying the hell out of everybody.

Did he say he would or wouldn't have a problem with illegals having healthcare? I couldn't understand him.
He would not have a problem.

He said he wouldn't have a problem with it and went on to explain that his wife was an undocumented immigrant who fled a war-torn country and who had to get health care at refugee camps.  It was a good answer but he didn't get to tie it all together at the end because Anderson Cooper kept interrupting him.

Q:  "How would you be different from President Obama?"
Chafee:  "I'd stop the wars!"
O'Malley:  "I'd change our regulatory system!"
Clinton:  "I'D BE A WOMAN!"
Crowd:  WOOOOOOOOOOO

Hard to say who won and lost tonight.  Everyone basically did what they wanted to do.  Sanders excited his supporters and annoyed moderate democrats, Hillary did her thing and brushed off all her attacks, Webb and O'Malley did reasonable jobs introducing themselves, and Chafee wet his pants.

Did Webb threaten to leave during the commercial break?  Wonder what Anderson was talking about on the intro.

Sanders looks like he has his shoulders growing out of his ears.

Stand up straight dude.  Learn from Webb and O'Malley.

He's 74

Webb is 69.  Your spine doesn't collapse when you turn 70.

Hillary:  "We know we can afford it because we're going to make the rich people pay for it!"

not a paraphrase.  That's about the depth of economic theory in this party right now.

The way O'Malley said "The National, Rifle, Association" was absolutely perfect.

The Sanders/Webb bromance was one of the most fun parts of this debate.

Chafee was the most fun part.  Oh god.  Please don't let him drop below 1% before the next one.

DWS is on Fox news right now, she looks dreadful, and she's completely humiliating herself.  Megyn Kelly asked her about banning her vice chair from the debate, and DWS said "You know I think what really matters is that today we had a very substantive debate, much moreso than the Republicans in their ten hours of debates."  Megyn looked like she was going to murder her.  DWS noticed and decided to actually answer the question with "you know, my vice-chairwoman focuses too much on process, what we really need to focus on is how horrible the Republicans are blah blah blah"

She's so terrible

As Ron Paul changed a generation of young Republicans, so has Sanders changed a generation of young Democrats.
It's the same damn people.  Redditors, teenagers, college slacktivists, folks who want to feel special but have a poor understanding about how the world works, who want to feel like they're smarter than everybody else because they read a pseudointellectual blog about how stupid everybody is.
The appeal of the candidates is the exact same.  A revolution you can re-tweet.
