Gulf of Mexico Restoration and Protection Act

1. The Gulf of Mexico is a valuable resource of national and international importance, continuously serving the people of the Atlasia and other countries as an important source of food, economic productivity, recreation, beauty, and enjoyment;

2. over many years, the resource productivity and water quality of the Gulf of Mexico and its watershed have been diminished by point and nonpoint source pollution;

3.  the Atlasia should seek to attain the protection and restoration of the Gulf of Mexico ecosystem as a collaborative regional goal of the Gulf of Mexico Program;

The purposes of this Act are

1.  to expand and strengthen cooperative voluntary efforts to restore and protect the Gulf of Mexico;

2.  to expand Federal support for monitoring, management, and restoration activities in the Gulf of Mexico and its watershed;

3.  to commit the Atlasia to a comprehensive cooperative program to achieve improved water quality in, and improvements in the productivity of living resources of, the Gulf of Mexico; and

4. to establish a Gulf of Mexico Program to serve as a national and international model for the collaborative management of large marine ecosystems.

Does the region have the power to tell the Federal government what to do?

It's not exactly my bill or choice but maybe this should be brought up to a higher office? Maybe we can do this but idk

The bill is currently confusing; I'm not sure where the amendment ends and Legislator Steelers' explanation begins. Really, the second numbered list should be the bill, and the first should be the explanation.

Also, the South government can not tell the Federal government what to do.

I'll rewrite it with both things in mind, retaining the bill's substance, and then after this amendment is (presumably) adopted by Steelers, we'll debate the merits of the bill itself:

Don't let this be interpreted, by the way, as either support or opposition to the bill, but merely keeping it within our jurisdiction and removing the explanation. (Look at me and my disclaimers Tongue)

You're welcome!

Now, what do Speaker Haslam and Legislator Pingvin think about this bill?

Protecting Gulf of Mexico is essential if we wanna take care of our environment and of course I support this, however, I would like to see the numbers and a solid plan for the Gulf of Mexico Program.

Yeah, I was thinking this, too.

I don't understand what kind of numbers you think?

How much will it cost, and also more fleshing out of what exactly this "Gulf of Mexico Program" is.

There is more then 56 million people in Gulf of Mexico area who lives in constant danger of hurricanes, storms and pollution. My opinion is that we have obligation to this people to adopt this act and then all together with our Senators initiate foundation of Gulf of Mexico environmental protection agency from central government.

That's why this bill is here. But not what it does, or how much it costs. Those are important things to know before we can vote on this.

My intention is that we adopt this like a platform.And after that all of us from South (Governor, Senators and Assemblers) make a pressure on Federal government to create Bill. So, i dont know much this will cost.

No, we shouldn't vote.

It's too vague for a bill that will actually do anything, and if it's simply a resolution (like a platform, as Legislator Steelers said) it would need a rewrite to make it look like that.

We should look at bills more critically, to make sure they're ready to vote on before putting them up to a vote.
