Indianapolis residents will elect the city's 49th Mayor on Tuesday. With incumbent Mayor Greg Ballard having declined a third term in office, the Democrats are excited by the prospect of a victory for U.S. District Attorney and former Indiana Secretary of State Joe Hogsett; Republicans, meanwhile, have rallied behind small business owner Chuck Brewer, who is running his first campaign for public office. In addition to the two major party candidates, Libertarian Charles Harrison and write-in candidate Sam Carson are also contesting the election, but neither has garnered much attention.
