I realise it's very likely that I'm going to get overriden but I think Senator Talleyrand is right, and can not in good conscience support this

I have the feeling someone will go mad quickly after having been sworn.

The sponsor of this bill (Senator PiT) has 72 hours to request an override of the President's veto.

I would like to request an override of the veto.

And to think I used to think of you as one of the reasonable Laborites.

That is because Talleyrand was the original, "reasonable Laborite". Tongue

I would invite all non-Labour Senators and Labour Senators with common sense - namely, Talleyrand and Windjammer - to reach a consensual budget that address our budgetary crisis. I will not support a budget that doesn't reduce the deficit to less than 6% - and, trust me, it will be a lot worse than that.

Of course this was back in his "younger days", but while we are on the subject of that March special election, I woud like to thank Maxwell for all the assistance he gave JCL in making it to the final round. I am sure Griffin is thankfull as well. Tongue

A 72-hours vote on overriding the President's veto is now open.

Remember that any Senator who abstains from voting shall be counted as a vote against overriding the veto.

After much thought, NAY. I'm still very uncertain about this bill, and overriding a presidential veto demands complete certainty on the part of the legislature. In that case, I defer to the judgement of the president.

Abstain.

I concur in the reasoning of my colleague, Senator Truman. Having not participated in the debate on this bill at all, I do not feel able to make auch a strong endorsement in its favor.

I only see 6 Ayes in favor of the override. 7 were needed.

Once again, the far-left has won a victory for government and Big Labor interests against the people of Atlasia. Today is a dark day for us all (except of course for Labor Senators who will shortly be receiving large checks from their AFL-CIO and SEIU clients in the mail).

Quite the opposite, but those sunglasses you are wearing, paid for by Goldman Sachs, Toyota Motor Company, Nike, and other exploiters of the working class, are working very well to block the light!

Hey, I'm quite open about my finances. My fortune comes entirely from my large plantation in Louisiana. You wouldn't believe what I get for a bale of cotton these days. Cheesy

Cowardice from the so-called "moderates" of this once-great House!
