Since there is no thread about those races, I thought I might just create this one.

Good, but i expect nothing unusual in these states. Democrats will continue to hold 1 VRA seats in Alabama and South Carolina, and, most likely, nothing more...

By far the most interesting race IMO is our Senate race.

Former Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, Former Governor Mike Beebe, Former Representative and statewide nominee Mike Ross, and two other statewide elected officials are all still considering it. Pryor somewhat addressed it, but he didn't rule it out entirely like Wikipedia says he did IIRC.

I like them all, but only Beebe could win in present day Arkansas.. And even he would need a lot of luck for that..

Conner Eldridge, former United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, formally kicks off his Senate campaign

So far he's the only Democratic candidate who has declared. He'll probably be the Democratic nominee.

Good candidate, but will not win. Even against Cotton it would be difficult. Against less controversial Boozman - no chances

I'm not even sure Beebe could win there nowadays. Boozman is relatively anonymous and inoffensive (like Portman) which explains why he might be struggling in some early polls.

About the only thing possible for Democrats to gain here is Arkansas' central 2nd district, but that's a wave situation. Otherwise, boring is boring.

Boozman should retire if he's being weak on campaigning.

Boozman, Westerman and Crawford haven't filed yet, but as of now, no Democrats have filed in any CD.

Pretty bad, if it stays the same on Monday.

So does that make CD1 and CD4 uncontested?

What happens if there are no candidates that have filed in a district?

Why is the filing deadline so early?

The deadline is Monday. Presumably, the Republican incumbents will file then.

The primary is March 1. Arkansas has one of the earlier primaries, though why I don't know.

Boozman has a primary challenger in businessman Curtis Coleman.

Unlikely he gets far, as Coleman ran against Boozman in 2010 and only took 5%.

Only Dianne Curry filed to run for the Democrats in the U.S House.  Not even Robbie Wilson filed in the end.

Also, as in Alabama, neither George Pataki nor Jim Gilmore filed.  Have they both de facto dropped out?

Pretty crazy that Arkansas has changed so much in just 7 years. This time in 2008, most of the Dem incumbents (even the senator!) were sailing to re-election unopposed, and now it's the opposite.

If not Obama - what may be the reason?

Yes. I'm sure when Hillary is president the Democrats will gain back some territory in the state.

Well, he said some territory, and they would probably regain some territory under President Clinton, but yeah. It is so dumb that so many races are uncontested next year though. Smh Arkansas Democrats.
