One's a left-liberal/social-democrat, the other a fairly right-wing conservative so the answer is fairly obvious.

Corbyn vs Sanders would have been more interesting, even if it's still a rather slanted question.

For once I'll defend BRTD, there are some people who genuinely believe that the pig-diddlerDavid Cameron is "left-wing" for the USA.

I doubt Sanders would be progressive enough to go as far as to endorse interspecies relationships.

Bernie Sanders vs. Andy Burnham might be an interesting comparison.

Why is this a question? Anyone who has ANY idea about politics would know Sanders is more left-wing.

Well someone just argued in the 2016 forum that Sanders is equivalent to European center-right.

Here's the thread in question: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=221212.0

I find it kind of amazing that bobloblaw is actually the voice of reason.

People who argue the UK Tories are markedly left of the Republicans I can only presume pay little  attention to UK politics, or are just repeating platitudes that haven't been true for decades (and make even less sense now they're lumping us into a continent swept by austerocrats).

But muh gay marriage (that more Tories voted against than for) & socialist healthcare (that they're busily starving & privatising).

The stupidest thing about using gay marriage as an example is the Democrats got fully behind it before almost ALL European conservative parties, most of which still aren't fully in favor. The only exceptions would be some of the Scandinavian ones and the Dutch VVD.

VVD just isn't conservative, at least on social issues. Though even CDA, the most socially conservative of major Dutch parties, supports same-sex marriage, if I'm not mistaken.

It's an argument that Northeastern liberals use to try to paint anyone center of right as backwards hayseeds. Of course it isn't grounded in reality.
