No candidate won a majority of the electoral vote in the 2000 election, throwing the choice of the nation's president to the House of Representatives for the first time since 1921. With Senator Richard Lugar of the National Liberty Party having failed to win any electoral votes, the House has the choice of incumbent President Hillary Rodham, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, and environmental activist Ralph Nader. Likewise, the Senate has been called upon to choose the vice president from among the two front runners, Vice President Rick Santorum and Governor Tom Daschle.
Choose with care.
