First of all, I would like to welcome all newcomers to Atlas Fantasy Politics.  Remember, we are here to have fun, so try not to get too serious about it.  The government of Atlasia has three branches, just like the government of the United States.  The charter for our government is established in the second Atlasian Constitution.

The legislative branch is made up of a single chamber called the Senate.  The Senate has ten members.  The basic purpose of the Senate is to pass legislation and provide a budget for Atlasia.  One of the Senators is President Pro Tempore (PPT), who is basically the President of the Senate.  In absence of the PPT, the Vice-President serves as President of the Senate.  Half of the Senators are elected from Districts with equal populations.  The districts are reapportioned.  The other half of the Senators are elected from regions, which do not have to be equal in population.

For a map of the Districts and Regions: District/Region Maps

To view all bills signed into law, visit the Atlasian Statute Thread on the Atlas Wiki.

To learn more about the Senate, visit the section on the Legislative Branch on the Atlas Wiki.

The executive branch of Atlasia is made up of the President, Vice-President, and five executive departments, each with a cabinet-level Secretary.  To view the offices of all the Cabinet members, visit the Government Directory Thread

To learn more about the President, Vice-President, and Cabinet members, visit the section on the Executive Branch on the Atlas Wiki.

The Judicial Branch of Atlasia is made up of the Supreme Court, which has three members.  The Supreme Court convenes to decide the constitutionality of legislation and to settle electoral disputes.

For more information on the Supreme Court, visit the section on the Judicial Branch on the Atlas Wiki.

The regions of Atlasia are much like states in the United States.  Each one has a Governor and Lt. Governor, usually along with an assembly of some sort made up of select or all citizens of the region.

For more information on the Regions, visit the section on the Regions on the Atlas Wiki.

The political parties of Atlasia are very different from real world politics.  Democratic and Republican parties no longer exist in Atlasia.  The main parties are the the ACA (or Atlasian Conservative Alliance), the FLP (or Farmer-Labor Party), the ILP (or Independent Liberal Party), the CUP (or Constitutional Union Party), the Libertarian Part, and the Freedom Party.

Here are brief explanations of what each party stands for and link to their websites:

Atlasian Conservative Alliance:

The Atlasian Conservative Alliance believes in social and economic conservativism. Our main goals are for smaller government, responsible spending and traditional, common sense social policy.

ACA Website

Constitutional Union Party:

Constitutional Union Party:

The Constitutional Union Party is a libertarian party of the center-right and we accentuate personal liberty, a strong national defense, and capitalism. Unlike other political organizations, though, we encourage our members to always support ideas that have strong merit and proof of effectiveness, regardless of their ideological foundations. We believe that ideology often gets in the way of progress and unnecessarily divides people by cultural, racial, and religious boundaries. Science, reason, and common sense are our primary values.

CUP Website

Farmer-Labor Party

The Farmer Labor Party is a Progressive Populist Party. We stand for social justice, helping those who can't help themselves and sticking up for the little guy. We don't have official positions on wedge issues and are happy to accept people with all kinds of views on them.

We have a democratic party structure (some recent changes aren't up on the website yet. They are on our forum, linked to on the site, though) and semi-regular Party Conferances.

Farmer-Labor Party Website

Freedom Party:

Here is a link to their latest convention:

Freedom Party Website

Independent Liberal Party:

The Independent Liberal Party stands for Social Liberalism in society combined with an economic policy that keeps a check on the size of government whilst providing fully for our nation's future through education. Independent Liberals stand to fight against corruption and for a healthy, active Atlasian government.

Independent Liberal Party Website

Libertarian Party:

The Libertarians believe in Freedom, most importantly freedom from Government.  The Government shouldn’t intervene in your daily life.  We also believe that everyone should keep what is theirs and not take that which isn’t.

The Libertarian Party website is currently under construction.

Still waiting on all the other parties.

There are other political organizations in Atlasia besides political parties.  Here are a few:

National Rifle Association

Progressive Caucus

Progressive Caucus Forums

Atlas Forum Civil Liberties Union (now defunct)

If I have left out any news organizations, feel free to ask me to add them.

Atlasia also has many news publications to keep you up to date on the latest news in Atlasia.

The National Atlasian

Atlasian News Tonight

The Region- Southeastern News

The National Journal

If I have left out any news organizations, feel free to ask me to add them.

Nope.  The other incumbent (this was like a merged seat) decided not to run for re-election.

The other incumbent was of the same party, which would have required a primary.  He decided not to run.

MAS is the other incumbent.  I am not running for re-election either, though.

MAS117.  King is the District 3 Senator until August (next election).

This election would be for the Northeast Region.

The Senate election is the same day as the June election.  You can declare up to 10 days before the election.

Radical Party:

The party combines a strong commitment to social justice and social provision with a strong belief in economic freedom and a competitive, deregulated market.

Radical Party Website

the Radical Party no longer exists.  it was disbanded just recently.

wasn't it?

True Democrat:

I have now replaced the rather wide array of links I had for the Consitutional Union Party and the National Rifle Association with AtlasWiki pages which link to all the specific links above.

If you could, at soonest possible opportunity, please change the present language to the following:

Constitutional Union Party:

The Constitutional Union Party is a libertarian party of the center-right and we accentuate personal liberty, a strong national defense, and capitalism. Unlike other political organizations, though, we encourage our members to always support ideas that have strong merit and proof of effectiveness, regardless of their ideological foundations. We believe that ideology often gets in the way of progress and unnecessarily divides people by cultural, racial, and religious boundaries. Science, reason, and common sense are our primary values.

CUP Website

National Rifle Association

Thank you.

Done.

Shouldn't the region map be updated to reflect the recent changes in which New Mexico joined the Pacific, and Montana joined the Midwest region?

Officially, per the Senate bill that caused the Region shift to happen, the change does not officially happen until July 1.

Doubt anything will happen till then, though.

That's odd.  The Wiki does not have any of the Regional constitutions on it.
