This after Hillary Clinton named Republicans as her biggest enemy in the debate.

You can be friends with your political enemies, but they are your political enemies.

Obama's biggest mistake was putting too much faith in the GOP for his first term. He's finally, mostly, snapped out of it. I don't want Biden to bring us backwards.

A winning move by Joe because more cooperation with the Republicans is exactly what the Democratic base looks for.

If you want anything done then yes it's probably what the base wants. Hillary said in the debate she was a 'progressive who gets things done' yet she made that comment.

Especially their wives. He's made great friends over the years in that department.

After 8 years of scorched earth tactics the Democratic base knows fully well that they can expect the same whoever is elected.

He won't win any votes from Democrats talking like that.

I think the message of unity and patriotic bi-partisanship can work for Joe. I just wish it was coming from a more sincere source than Mr. "They're gonna put y'all back in chains." Either way, good for Joe.

Hillary is an extremely polarizing candidate with no crossover appeal and Indies hate her, Biden's unity message could pay dividends in the GE.

One of these caused laughter and one caused cheers.

Guess which is which.

The problem with this friends notion is that Republicans are not going to support a Democrat just because he considers them friends, it just doesn't work like that. The GOP in Congress has threatened to shut down the government and admitted to misusing authority for political reason, neither of which sounds like friendship. It doesn't matter who Democrats nominate, the Republican Party will come at them with both barrels and that is what makes more centrist voters dislike the GOP.

Obama lost independents. He won two elections with over 50%.

I'd seriously consider voting for Biden before I voted for Trump. Sometimes the character of the man trumps (haha) the politics, and on the issue of character, there's no comparison between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. So you're probably right that it won't make much of a difference with most people, but it makes a hell of a lot of a difference with me.

Exactly. The Democrats will win by mobilizing their base, not by going after that elusive moderate/centrist/persuadable voter.

What is overlooked a lot of times is that much of the Democratic voting base is registered as independent. There are plenty of left-leaning voters who vote mostly Democratic, but do not register with a party.

They sure haven't acted like friends over the past seven years. I get Biden's message, but I think Obama's presidency has showed us what happens when you try too hard to compromise.

This is just Biden being Biden. And don't forget, Hill Republicans currently consider him to be the most reliable negotiator for the Democrats (or at least Mitch McConnell thinks that way).

Just like Obama. Literally a 3rd center-right Democratic term.

The Obama Method
GOP: "Let's privatize social security."
Biden: "C'mon, let's compromise. Let's only privatize some of it."
GOP: "No, all of it."
Biden: "Now, let's reach across the aisle. How about 3/4ths of it?"
GOP: "It's a start."

Yes! That's exactly what Obama has done!

Taking such a direct shot at Hillary is probably the best evidence of Biden running so far.

Definitely an attack on Hillary. I highly doubt that Biden is endorsing Sanders, so is he running now or what?
