I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner.

Anyway, vote your opinion while I wait for either O'Malley/Sanders/Republican to drop out for next time.

An amateur, yet still a freedom fighter to some extent. That some extent mostly extends to two issues as far as I'm concerned; Edward Snowden and the embrace of the metric system. Wink He is also generally far left on peace and war issues it seems, which is generally nice, as long as one is not naive, which would have been the case if one had not reacted to the atrocities of Afghanistan (bin Laden + Taliban) and Libya (Muammar el Gadhaffi promising to massmurder his own people + his dictatorship being more or less just as cruel as the North Korean one). Not doing anything in Afghanistan and Libya would have been a naivity to an almost insane level, and that comes from me who regard myself as something very close to being a 100% pacifist.

He should never have served elected office.

I'm glad America, after fighting so hard to escape from our clutches, managed to come up with its own inbred aristocracy from scratch.

His presidential campaign actually somewhat warmed my opinion of him, bizarrely enough. He seems somewhat fiscally sane while having the courage to take a principled stand for privacy and peace. Its too bad that Chafee and Webb could not be the modern emissaries of the Democratic Party (or the Republican Party, for that matter), rather than a mixture of racial agitators, kleptocrats, and paleo-Marxists.

I think he's a genuinely good person at heart, but clearly has always been in over his head.

He probably has said the Seinfeld comeback without a hint of irony.

He's neither an FF nor an HP.

I have a hard time seeing him as a horrible person, honestly. For all his flaws, I think his heart is in the right place.

One of the best candidates of this election cycle and very few Republicans (at the time) to have voted against the Iraq War. I was hoping he'd stay in longer to debate Clinton on foreign policy.

Definitely a Freedom Fighter, and a man of high integrity. He was to the left of Bernie on foreign policy, firearms, Edward Snowden, and immigration, but was a fiscal moderate who opposed the Bush tax cuts, support TPP, voted in favor of repealing Glass-Steagall, and support privatizing Social Security. I think that if either Sanders or O'Malley are the Democratic nominee next year that Chafee may be on the VP shortlist, as he has good relations with both.

I thought he voted for repealing Glass-Steagall?

Thank you for catching that; it was a typo. I meant to say that Chafee voted in favor of repealing Glass-Steagall, but that he has seen the damage such the repeal has caused, and has since changed his opinion.

It was a perfect typo, given Chafee's debate answer to Glass-Steagall.
