^ A few times in the last couple of cycles. LG and SOS in 2011 both were. There was also a decent chance that the LG election this year could have ended up like that as well. In the Treasurer's race, Kennedy was running against another some dude R, but it was just those two.

28% of the vote went to Black Democrats and they ain't voting for Landry, so do the math.  Caldwell was a Democrat when elected and switched parties when the R swept the other state offices (the Rs recruited him) and while the state party couldn't stop somebody like Landry from running, giving Landry the party endorsement was low class.  Buddy ain't looking to do anybody any favors at this point, and he has a pretty big edge, but if black turnout were to be higher for the General Election, Buddy wouldn't mind that at all, even if it hurt Vitter and Junior.

And my too. Essentially - he remains a very conservative Democrat he always was, only under different label (there are many such types in Louisiana and South in general). Landry is a right-wing fanatic...
