No Sympathy. The Democrats made a huge effort to win here in 2014, Over 100 notable moderate state republicans were publicly screaming at the state to vote Brownback out in 2014, and you still re-elected him.

Well to be fair, most who bothered to show up to vote didn't choose him.

Here's the official results from the Kansas Secretary of State website (I don't have 20 posts yet, so I can't provide a link):

(R) Sam Brownback: 433,196 - 49.8%
(D) Paul Davis: 401,100 - 46.1%
(L) Keen Umbehr: 35,206 - 4.0%

Although I wonder how many Umbehr voters preferred Brownback over Davis anyway (probably most would). Would Brownback have won re-election in a hypothetical runoff?

If turn out went up then no. If it lowered maybe.

The CNN exit poll showed 53% of Kansasn voters agreed Brownback's tax cuts hurt the state, but 11% who agreed voted for him anyway.

For some reason, Davis preformed really poorly with Hispanics, who split about evenly between the candidates with a slight lean toward Brownback.

http://www.cnn.com/election/2014/results/state/KS/governor

Clearly state issues were not the focus of this race.

When will many Republicans realize that they don't actually like the impacts of the policies that they back on emotional and cultural reasons an start voting the other way?

Who knows

Much of the Republican Party runs on fear -- fear of a godless world.

All of the Democratic Party runs on identity politics and deceptive emotional fearmongering

46% of Kansans who voted in the 2014 election certainly don't deserve him, but they're stuck with him just the same.

All political parties do that, hon. And thank goodness they do, otherwise politics would be tedious and we would have about 3% turnout.
