I just found out I saw a band connected to One Direction

Sort of. I saw The Wonder Years and Motion City Soundtrack Sunday. These guys were one of the openers. Good time, good set, and lots of fun to jump around to.

So I was checking out some of their stuff now, and found out that they actually opened for 5 Seconds of Summer on a tour last year. What. Yeah I'm pretty stunned since they are still very indie and scene and not even on a major label and all that. Plus one of the guitarists was wearing a Drug Church shirt. If you know about Drug Church you must be scene as f[inks].

But it gets even more bizarre. 5SOS are bad enough on their own, but they also toured with One Direction. So they're only two degrees removed from One Direction. But they played a very scene show in a very iconic Minneapolis venue.

WHAT THE F[INKS] IS THIS NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE

OK you don't find it all odd that these guys have probably played with Drug Church (in addition to the shirt they are from the same city, Albany, NY), who one are the most f[inks]ing punk bands in the underground today, and also a band that has played with ONE DIRECTION?

This is Drug Church.

That is just a combination of pop punk and hardcore, ala The Wonder Years, the same band they were opening for. It's still "scene", just on the poppier side of scene music, but still fun as hell to mosh and jump to.

BRTD, I'm going to a Circa Survive concert on the 31st. Do you listen to them? I'm only really going since I need something to do and my roommate's going. They seem decent based on what I've heard.

They are great, I just saw them on Sunday and I was able to meet Anthony Green after the show. Real nice guy, very talkative and down to earth. They always put on a real energetic show, especially this one since it's the 10th Anniversary tour for their first album.


Also, Rx Bandits (who are opening for them) are fantastic live as well. You'll really enjoy them.

Have you forgotten they are from Minneapolis? Thus they have a fanbase here that's a lot more "hardcore" than elsewhere. Also for that reason they headlined, the only spot on the tour where they displaced The Wonder Years.

They were also huge when I was in college, so me and the other older folks there have the nostalgia excuse.

No. I don't think I've even heard them, although from what I've gathered I'd assume they are R2D2-style metalcore.
