In Wisconsin, there are three municipalities that are just RICH, far above any others.

1. River Hills. Located in northeastern Milwaukee County, its a small community of about 1600 people, and has a median family income of $184,000! Unlike the rest of well-off communities in NE Milwaukee County, it votes Republican. 57-42 for Romney and 60-39 for Walker.

2. Chenequa. Located in Northwestern Waukesha County, its a tiny lake community of just 600 people, But its very noticeable. Median household income clocks in at $163,000. The value of houses and condos were nearly 1 million! It voted 86-13 Romney and 87-12 Walker.

3. Oconomowoc Lake. Also located in Northwestern Waukesha County, its also a tiny lake community of just 600 people. Median household income is about $102,000. It voted 78-21 Romney and 83-17 Walker.

According to an Excel document on this site, Harding Township in Morris County had the highest per capita income in the state in 2010.

Harding Township:

Barack Obama (Democratic): 28.6%

New Jersey gubernatorial election, 2013:

Chris Christie (Republican): 82.0%
Barbara Buono (Democratic): 16.6%

Clocking in at number 2 is the borough of Alpine in Bergen County.

Alpine:

U.S. presidential election, 2012:

Mitt Romney (Republican): 59.0%
Barack Obama (Democratic): 38.6%

New Jersey gubernatorial election, 2013:

I am trying to get this information and not doing so well, LOL.  I'll edit this post over time when I have better numbers (today is kind of busy), but I'll do Illinois and Iowa.  Here are the top 5 wealthiest places in both states:

ILLINOIS
1. Winnetka (North Shore Chicago Suburb)
2. Kenilworth (North Shore Chicago Suburb)
3. Glencoe (North Shore Chicago Suburb)
4. North Barrington (NW Chicago Suburb)
5. Lake Forest (North Shore Chicago Suburb)

IOWA
1. Urbandale (Des Moines Suburb) - Romney (52.21%) over Obama (46.12%)
2. Bettendorf (Quad Cities) - Romney (51.39%) over Obama (47.05%)
3. Ankeny (Des Moines Suburb) - Romney (52.90%) over Obama (44.93%)
4. West Des Moines (Des Moines Suburb) - Obama (48.77%) over Romney (47.99%)
5. Marion (Cedar Rapids Suburb) - Obama (52.53%) over Romney (45.23%)

The only thing I have been able to find so far is that Ankeny gave Romney 14,532 to Obama's 12,339 (I don't know the totals yet).

I cheers you to actually getting all this done, haha.  Damn.

UPDATE: Done with Iowa ... More to come, I suppose.  LOL.  Struggling with Illinois.

2014 Gubernatorial election

Charlie Baker (R): 60.6
Martha Coakley (D): 36.6

Newton (richest city in the state; 7th-richest municipality over 50,000 people in the country)

2012 Presidential election

Barack Obama (D): 71.4
Mitt Romney (R): 27.0

2014 Gubernatorial election

ILLINOIS
1. Winnetka (Cook)
2. Kenilworth (Cook)
3. Glencoe (Cook)
4. North Barrington (Lake)
5. Lake Forest (Lake)

Winnetka and Glencoe definitely voted for Obama in 2008 while the other three voted for McCain.

If I had to guess, I would say that Winnetka voted for Romney somewhere in the 50s while LF, Kenilworth, and North Barrington remained on the R side.

It is fair to say that Glencoe voted solidly to re-elect Obama.

Why Glencoe is so liberal I don't really know. Initial inklings would say that it has a Jewish population (like Highland Park) but it isn't so - only 1.2% of the town is Jewish. If anyone knows more about Glencoe than me please tell.

The three wealthiest places in WA are Hunts Point, Medina, and Yarrow Point.  They're also right next to each other and among the most Republican neighborhoods in the Seattle area.  I edited a map of Northwestern King County to show them, original map courtesy of some Atlas guy named realisticidealist:

The three relevant localities are circled in black.  This particular map is of the 2012 Presidential Election.  Notice how Hunts Point, the one in the middle, is the darkest blue.  I don't have specific data for any of them, but it'd be cool if someone else could.

Also, a fun fact is that my Congresswoman Suzan DelBene lives in Medina.

By the way, that island to the south of them is Mercer Island, probably the richest actual town in Washington by some measure.  They're so bourgeois that they demanded the highway be built under their island, so that us commoners wouldn't sully their neighborhoods.  Lol.  But I think this map shows the difference between the only somewhat rich and the mega-rich.  The only somewhat rich out here still vote Democrat on the federal level (though they sometimes will vote for "socially moderate" Republicans on the local level) while the mega-rich folks in Hunts Point, Yarrow Point, and Medina are straight-ticket GOP partisans.

The richest town in my state is Nantucket, apparently. It voted for Obama 63-36, but it can swing both ways in statewide elections. It narrowly voted for Charlie Baker in 2014.

Atherton (very white, very wealthy) in San Mateo County voted for Romney, though I'm not sure by how much.

Anyway, the actual richest city/town in Massachusetts is Weston, which voted for Romney, 51.2%-47.7%.

Forgive me for posting Canadian stuff in this forum.

I think The Bridle Path area in Toronto is the wealthiest place in Ontario. There precincts in it (polls as we call them) don't line up exactly with the neighbourhood so these aren't exact results.

Provincial 2014:
70% PC
26% Liberal
2% NDP
1% Green
1% Other

Federal 2011:
67% Conservative
24% Liberal
5% NDP
4% Green

Federal 2015 isn't available yet but I don't expect much change.

The surrounding areas towards the north are also heavily Conservative, despite the riding as a whole leaning towards the Liberals. The riding also has the highest percent of Muslims in Ontario. Also a University campus (York's Glendon) is adjacent to The Bridle Path and appears to have voted >60% Conservative in 2011. I can't explain that one.

Is that true? Irving Cutler wrote in "The Jews of Chicago: From Shtetl to Suburb" (1995) that "Glencoe, Highland Park, Skokie and Lincolnwood [had been] estimated as close to 50 percent Jewish." If Jews are truly at 1.2% now, that would have been like a Second Exodus... but I doubt this has happened.

I think the wealthiest individual precinct is probably the squarish one just below the left side of the circle on the water. Either that one or the one directly above it.

Yeah, you're probably right.  I wasn't able to access precinct-level data and was just basing this off Wikipedia. Tongue

Are we doing other places too? Well, here in Venezuela, the wealthiest part of my state is the San Jose parish, in Valencia. It's also where I live. The ruling PSUV party (leftist, could be considered far left?) hasn't gotten more than 20% of the vote since Hugo Chávez's first election in 1998. In fact, it's the second most pro-opposition parish in the country. The current President, Nicolás Maduro, got only 11% of the vote here in 2013.

Based on per capita income, it would be something like this.  Since villages in Michigan are under the jurisdiction of townships, I will use the townships where a village fits.

1. Ann Arbor Township (Barton Hills)

2012 President: 65% Obama 35% Romney
2012 Senate: 65% Stabenow 32% Hoekstra
2014 Governor: 49.9% Snyder 49.6% Schauer (Snyder took it by 6 votes)
2014 Senate: 65% Peters 33% Land

2. Bloomfield Hills

2012 President: 67% Romney 33% Obama
2012 Senate: 62% Hoekstra 37% Stabenow
2014 Governor: 80% Snyder 20% Schauer
2014 Senate: 61% Land 37% Peters

3. Grosse Pointe Shores

2012 President: 77% Romney 23% Obama
2012 Senate: 74% Hoekstra 25% Stabenow
2014 Governor: 84% Snyder 15% Schauer
2014 Senate: 72% Land 26% Peters

4. Southfield Township (Franklin)

2012 President: 52% Romney 47% Obama
2012 Senate: 51% Stabenow 47% Hoekstra
2014 Governor: 65% Snyder 34% Schauer
2014 Senate: 53% Peters 45% Land

5. Lake Angelus

2012 President: 84% Romney 15% Obama
2012 Senate: 81% Hoekstra 17% Stabenow
2014 Governor: 93% Snyder 5% Schauer
2014 Senate: 78% Land 18% Peters

West Michigan is very conservative, especially up in Dick DeVos land near Grand Rapids. I'm from Oakland County, which usually goes blue in the Presidential election, though by a slim margin.

Oakland County has Bloomfield Hills, one of the wealthiest places in the nation, but also Pontiac. Not sure how the average shapes up.

Pontiac is pretty poor, as I understand.  Overall, I think Oakland County is one of the wealthiest counties in the country.

Yeah but only in terms of numbers, really outside Bloomfield Hills and Auburn Hills. My hometown is a very middle class, Leave-It-To-Beaver type place that's actually very affordable, despite being in one of the richest counties of the country.
