The only Senator who really stands a chance at winning and who isn't retiring anyway is Cruz.

I don't know much about Greg Abbott, but I think Jeb Hensarling would probably at least be considered. He seems like the most prominent Representative from Texas, is still reasonably young (58), and he only has two years left before being term-limited as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.
