If so, the answer is no way in hell.
A Republican victory in 1940 is possible I suppose...by a combination of...
-America already in the War, war going badly
and
-Roosevelt's attempt to have Southern Dinosaurs ousted in the primaries backfiring worse than it did, ie Reps breaking into Deep South 1964-style.
