Ugh, those are the opposite positions that any young conservative should be taken, besides maybe abortion.

I have had a massive shift to the Social Right, and I've moved from being Pro-Legalization on SSM to I Don't Really Care just leave me alone but massively supporting Religious Liberty and Kim Davis. Abortion I've gone to just support it for endangerment and rape. Euthanasia I'm totally against now and I used to be anti-Confederate Flag and now I don't mind it per say.

I don't think this particular forum has changed my mind on anything major.

If you support Kim Davis you might as well support Sharia Law as well.

What exactly does it mean to become more liberal on "Crony Capitalism"?

I've shifted to the right somewhat socially. This forum has a minority of anti-Christian bigots, and they have helped to harden some views I used to be willing to compromise on.

That's true it would be better stated as Government Giving Money and being bought by Large Companies

Way to the right socially for me as well.  I also am a little more right wing on economics just from the standpoint that there are a lot of angry Democratic hacks here that are turnoffs.

None of these are strictly "because" of the forum, but here are some of my beliefs that have changed since I joined.

Rent control - used to be for, now against (so, more conservative, I guess)
Black Lives Matter - my support/lack of is continually shifting back and forth
Free trade - a bit more "for" although with plenty of caveats (again, probably more conservative)
GMOs - always thought the debate was pretty stupid, but now I'm pretty squarely against the anti-GMO movement. (More conservative)
Vaccines - Used to be think people would only harm themselves by not getting vaccinated, but now I know that's not the case, and am in favor of requiring children to be vaccinated. (More liberal)

I've always been against using conservative and liberal to describe specific positions but come on. It should be quite obvious that extremist nutjobs on both sides are anti-vaccine, but it is far more prominent on the liberal end of the spectrum. The right wing is just crazy libertarian purists who are insignificant and a few nutty religious folk though less than you might expect as most are actually rational. Aren't like 60% or 80% of anti-vaxxers liberals? And the general population only has 20 or 30% describe themselves that way.

It's not an actual stance of any sane ideology, but the ones who hold that stance tend to be liberals.

I won't call that more liberal but more common sense.

My positions have not changed a wit (that is what happens when you become old), but my views about the goodness of Pubness have changed considerably. Much of the party has gone absolutely nutter.

I've actually become slightly more anti-GMO recently, although not because of this forum.

Also, the vaccine thing is definitely not a left/right issue and I'm sick of people saying it is.

I used to quite like coloured socks, but have recently been buying black ones for the sake of utility (no need to match them, if they're all the same). So that's one issue I'm more conservative on. I'm more liberal in my choice of pizza, because I used to only have pepperoni, but now my palate has expanded and I often get anchovies, capers, artichoke, mushrooms etc.

My shifts have not come from the forum, but I have to admit that there's a cabal of imbeciles and bigots here that has hardened my newfound distaste for certain positions and ideological groups. I guess it comes with the territory of identifying as something they hate and belittle, though! So in a way, I asked for it! ^-^

I can't say that I've changed much ideologically. Some of my specific policy preferences have changed due to changes in what is possible politically, but even that's not much of a change.

Well, I've taken a massive turn to the right socially and to the left economically, both due to the same experience in my religious trip to India.

Well, I've taken a massive turn to the right socially and to the left economically, both due to the same experience in my religious trip to India.
Please elaborate.  I'm hard pressed to see how a trip to India could encourage either, let alone both. While India isn't as bad as many African countries socially or economically, I'd think a trip to India to see the results of social conservatism in a non-Western context and the utter incompetence of those Indian states that are economically leftist would encourage a turn to the left socially and the right economically if one were the type to be influenced by isolated examples.

Or was the experience during a stopover in Singapore during your trip?  I could easily envisage something happening there that would cause the change you describe.
