If Hillary drops out today (and it's not because of anything damaging to her support, it's just sudden and without reason)...

AND no one new jumps in...

who takes the lead, Marty or Bernie?

(she's over 50% in many polls, and over 70% in some early states, with Bernie around 10-20% in most states and O'Malley under 5% in most polls)

Sanders might have more energy right now, but I'm not sure if most Hillary supporters would be comfortable with him as their first choice if Hillary goes. For those who want a safer bet, O'Malley could gain a lot.

Sanders. O'Malley wouldn't get it even if Sanders conceded.

O'Malley. The Democratic establishment would definitely support the non-socialist.

Sanders would lead but O'Malley would win.

Sanders would immediately gain the lead. I'm not confident that he would hold it though. It could end up being a long primary. I'm not sure that I could pick the winner at the moment.

Sanders would lead by at least 30-40 points and easily win the primary if nobody else jumped in.

(she's over 50% in many polls, and over 70% in some early states, with Bernie around 10-20% in most states and O'Malley under 5% in most polls)

That's not accurate.

Obviously Sanders, nobody even knows who O'Malley is. Could he eventually lead? Maybe, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I think Sanders would get the support initially, but ultimately O'Malley would win the nomination, which is fine by me.

Sanders, but if Hillary dropped out you would see a crap ton of candidates entering. No way Sanders would get the nomination if Hillary dropped but if it was ONLY O'Malley Vs Sanders than Sanders wins easily because no one even knows who O'Malley is.

Agreed. Between Sanders and O'Malley, I'd hope folks would go with O'Malley, but I think the chances of those two candidates being the only options are slim to none.

Depends on when Hillary drops out. If she dropped out today, I could see the man cool enuf to wash his car in the White House driveway without a shirt getting in and winning.

In a hypothetical scenario, Sanders would take a brief lead due to higher name recognition, but as more learned about O'Malley, he would gradually take the lead.

Sanders would do better initially just based on name recognition, but ultimately O'Malley would win once people learned about his positions on the issues vs. Sanders.

Sanders today but O'Malley would probably eventually be the nominee if it was too late for anyone else to get on the ballots.

Between the 2, I think it'll be really close. O'Malley would absorb most of the Hillary supporters and the backing of the DNC. Sanders would make it competitive by making bigger inroads with the Hispanic voters and African American voters and more rural white voters and would get a chunk of the soft Hillary supporters.
