DO NOT VOTE until after midnight EST at the beginning of Friday. Any votes cast before this time will not be counted.

This is the one and only official ballot for the Mideast Gubernatorial Election, Propositions and Initiatives being voted upon in May 2005.

Voting will open at midnight EST on Friday 20 May, 2005 and will close exactly 72 hours later; Only votes in this time frame will be counted.

This vote is being conducted in accordance with the Election and Vote Regulations Statute and the Mideast Constitution.

If you edit your vote, or the post containing your vote, it will be counted as void. If you campaign in this thread it will be likely counted as void, and you may be subject to further prosecution under the Campaigning in Voting Booths Statute. It would be appreciated if you didn't comment in this thread other than to vote.

To qualify to vote in this election you must be registered in one of the following States ten days before this election began, display an avatar or have a note in your signature to that effect and meet the activity requirements as defined by the Activity Requirements Statute:

District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Virginia, West Virginia or Wisconsin.

There are two declared candidates in the gubernatorial election:

Joe Republic of Ohio
Opebo of Missouri

Preferential voting is in effect for this election.  If your first preference does not receive a majority of votes, your vote will be counted for your second preference.  Candidates are eliminated until one candidate has a majority of votes.  You are not required to rank all of the candidates in any vote that applies to you.  If you do not wish to cast a first preference vote for a ballot candidate or write-in a choice, you may select None of the Above.

Example
[1] Vanilla
[2] Chocolate
[3] Strawberry

To pass, Propositions 13 and 14, and Initiatives 05 and 06 simply require more Aye votes than Nay votes.  As Initiative 07 is a constitutional amendment, it requires a two-thirds majority of Aye votes to pass.  These are the following Propositions and Initiatives to be voted on:
Prop 13 - Statute on Federal Constitutional Amendment Ratification Procedure

This statute lays down regulations for how the region ratifies amendments to the federal constitution.
Prop 14 - Superior Court Judge Appointment

This is the confirmation vote for Al Realpolitik (aka 'Semi-retired' Al) to be appointed to the position of Judge for the Mideast Superior Court.
Init 05Concealed Carry Statute Amendment

This statute repeals Clause 8 from the Concealed Carry Statute (passed in April), which entitles each Mideast resident to a free handgun.
Init 06Childrens' Rights Statute

This statute outlines basic rights for Mideast children and juveniles, and penalties for violating them.
Init 07 - First Constitutional Amendment

This is an amendment to the regional constitution, that will change the way the Lieutenant Governor is appointed.  This requires a two-thirds majority of Aye votes in order to pass.
Please vote aye, nay or abstain (or appropriate derivatives) on each of the above propositions and initiatives.
