Is there something that particularly endears you to the second-highest road in Romania?

I'm guessing that Top Gear explains the interest. I mean, it's an interesting-looking road that I presume a capable driver in a fast car would enjoy very much (i.e., not me-- I'd just drive very slowly).

At least Ceauseșcu was interesting, with his neo-medieval pageant plays, status-craving fake scientist wife, and insane building project(s). It was all very theatrical-- I once saw a documentary, "The King of Communism", whose main theme was more or less that aspect. A brutal, totalitarian dictatorship is a truly horrible thing to endure, but it's even worse if the only thing one can say about it is that it was a brutal totalitarian dictatorship, and nothing else (think Eritrea).

Of course, none of this changes the fact that he was a HP, of course.
