My opinion on this issue has shifted very much recently. Agree.

Though I much prefer a strongly regulated voucher system with private actors to an entirely public single-payer system, and I also don't mind some user fees for some treatments, as long as these remain reasonably affordable for everyone.

In a society as wealthy and technologically advanced as we are, "Strongly Agree" does not do it justice. Healthcare access should be considered a right.

I said disagree because I don't like the idea of totally government-funded healthcare for everyone. I think that healthcare should be primarily provided by private insurers, but with government subsidies and tax credits to individuals and families who could not otherwise afford it.

I have family and friends who live in UK and Canada and they both have told me that its very hard to schedule an appointment as you have to schedule your appointment months in advance compared to a few weeks over here. They have also told me that the only way you can get urgent care is if you have very severe injures or if you health condition is so bad that you would die without urgent care. Compared that to here US, when I had a very bad cough , my mom called the nearby hosiptal and we got urgent care almost immediately and didnt need to wait a long time like they need to in the UK or Canada. Lastly the only way the government can pay for universal healtcare is to go deep in to debt or raise our taxes , and I dont want either to happen.

I do support subsides though for low income Americans

we don't have a healthcare crises in America, we have a HEALTH CRISIS. People need to learn how to take better care of themselves and eat better, and we can do this by educating the public and promoting free market ideas like health savings accounts. NO to single payer government boggled down healthcare!

Seems reasonable to me, thanks for explaining. Your point regarding the time it takes to get an appointment is very relevant. It is quite bad in the Dutch mixed private-public system, and it was even worse when it was all public.

Really, I have friends in Canada and they say they can treatment for free if they have serious injuries and get it in around 2 days if for less serious injuries. I have friends in the UK who go to the NHS and they say, they can get treatment around 2 days and on that day if it serious in a day. In Australia, I can book an appointment and go to the local GP and get help in like an hour, through medicare. I've also gone to the hospital, but I think you need to go to the local GP to refer yourself to a hospital and I had like a spinal injury and I got treatment in 2 hours. In the US perhaps, I had to pay so much money and frequently the private insurer would come up with BS reasons about how I need to pay more for my healthcare insurance/private healthcare for me to be fully covered. I guess the service was good but it was really expensive and it was annoying. I go everything to the GP and then they refer it to a hospital and I had a friend that needed an operation, it took about 1-2 weeks.
