I was a big fan of him during his gubernatorial campaign, but I think this may be a better fit as I'm sure his talent would have been wasted in California. I'm excited to see how he will do. Praise the left coast for making this possible!

He's probably right for the Fed job. I found his Gubernatorial campaign a little silly.

Horrible candidate a complete joke and a total RINO I voted for Donnelly but I was forced to vote for him over MOONBEAM in the run off.

Not calling you out specifically Maxwell, but this site tends to have an overwhelming bias against candidates who lose. I'm sure you have your reasons, but I'm not sure what was so poor about his campaign. He was only modestly successful in his goals of redefining the party, but any ounce of sanity is something to be proud of. I may have said it before, but the piece in The Economist really sold me on what he was doing. Really smart guy. I know that publication doesn't get a ton of respect here either, but I'll diverge from the majority.

CARLY FIORINA
Meg Whittman
Neel Kashkari
Rocky Chavez
Ronald Gold

mightaswell not run anyone if thats the best you can offer. They should have ran a real conservative like Donnelly.

Well he was more of a democrat and that was in 2006 the last time they won anything. Its been 10years and all the run is jokes.

How are fiorina/whittman/kashkari serious candidates. They lose badly everytime at least run a strong conservative like Donnelly or at least someone with experience (like riordian).

Fiorina is such a joke I would rather vote for a left-wing democrat like barbara boxer over her.

Fwiw I don't think the California GOP needs to necessarily moderate (especially in the very Silicon Valley way many "moderates" think of) to win in a modern California. In most Latin American countries the right-wing are mental, and they don't have that much trouble winning. But conservatives simply can't use immigration as their crux issue. Or they will lose.

that kid drowning ad was pretty rough. And I don't doubt him as a smart guy, truthfully he's a pretty ok Republican, but he was pretty awkward and never really made an impact. Maybe that's because of how overwhelming the Democrat cash advantage is in California and Jerry Brown's approvals, but there's a reason he made fairly little headway even in a year where Republicans made historic gains.

It's not exactly the right-wing Latin Americans who've moved to California.

Anyway the CA GOP is never going to win statewide again no matter how much it "moderates," unless it somehow "moderates" to the point of being left of the Democrats and continues staying that "moderate" for several election cycles.

Best way for the Republicans to win in California is to not run good candidates like Kashkari against amazing candidates like Gavin Newsom and Jerry Brown.

Even before this Fed thing, watching him debate last year, very few things he said came across as "moderate", IIRC.

Massive FF.  It's a shame he didn't win, because he could've easily helped save the GOP.  Oh well, Bruce Rauner, Susana Martinez, Larry Hogan, and Charlie Baker are well on their way to doing that.

The only thing Charlie Baker and Larry Hogan are saving is themselves.

LOL, Fiornia is a conservative. Her demon sheep ad was against one of the few Republican moderates, Tom Campbell.

In ForumSpeak, it seems like "massive FF" would be reserved for, y'know, Jesus Christ, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr., that breed of folk. Using it for a randomass gubernatorial candidate in Commiefornia degrades what is already an almost useless term.
