I like how every time Kasich and Cruz have an exchange, Kasich looks like a manic insane person, while Cruz looks calm, collected, and Presidential.

The opposite of Atlas consensus on the two candidates.

Probably because when looked at objectively, instead of from the lens of a few minutes of prime time debate, Cruz is an insane person, while Kasich is not. But that doesn't seem to matter this election season.

Seeing as how Atlas was basically the only place where Kasich has gotten significant support, the fact that this site has turned on him so viciously speaks for itself.

I don't understand the reason for the level of mockery (and hatred, by some)  for this man. He is a reasonable, moderate, fiscal conservative who has 18 years of legislative experience, 4 years of executive experience (he won Ohio in a landslide, including independents and Democrats), business and media experience, and is clearly capable of winning Ohio for the GOP. He is the ideal nominee. I will never understand why so many people on this forum (particularly Steve McQueen) dislike John Kasich.
I think that most of the posters on this site are obviously from another planet.

Why not make a strong play for Republicans who don't care about immigration? Kasich isn't going to pull voters from Trump. May as well target Rubio and Bush supporters and try to surge in NH. Seemed like his strategy and he did fine.

Unless Kasich wins New Hampshire, I'm not seeing a route to the nomination for Kasich. He's functionally playing the role of Jon Huntsman, which is an extremely unfortunate position to find yourself in during the Republican Presidential primaries. (To boot, he has Weaver).

January 20, 2017 - Marco Rubio sworn in as President, John Kasich sworn in as Vice President
January 20, 2021 - Marco Rubio, John Kasich sworn in for a second term
January 20, 2025 - John Kasich sworn in as President, George P. Bush sworn in as Vice President

I'm from a planet where I'm not fooled into thinking that Conservative Republicans who sound nice are nice. I don't know what planet you guys are from.

He was thoughtful, pragmatic, and reasonable. I really hope he's the nominee.

When a Dem says this, you know you have a loser. Like when Dems praised Dole in 1996 as a good candidate.

It's a sad reflection on society when nutty demagogue Ted Cruz can win debates against candidates like Kasich not because he'd be a better president, but because he's more charismatic. It's nothing new of course, it's a fundamental problem with human societies that charisma can trump competence.

You mean like when JFK beat Nixon in the debates in 1960? Hint: there was no missile gap. JFK knew it and he knew Nixon couldnt respond without revealing US military secrets.

I am not supporting any of the Republicans, but some sound saner than others.

Why would a Bernie Sanders supporter like John Kasich? He's been leading the charge in the 90s for hard right budget conservatism which kills the type of policies Bernie Sanders supports. Why would you like when Ohio ousted Governor Ted Strickland for a Lieman Brother executive? a Fox News commentator? Why wouldn't you be scared as all hell that John Kasich could actually win?

There is nothing reasonable nor moderate about John Kasich. He was a right-wing conservative in office both times - in Congress and as Governor. Just because he's a nice boy doesn't make his policies any less harmful.

And by the way - John Kasich won't win the GOP nomination by being "reasonable and moderate" that's how Jon Huntsman got a grand total of 2 delegates. You win the GOP nomination by being tough and tacking right. That's how Mitt Romney won.
I like Kasich's character and policies. He is actually a fiscal conservative. I can see the good on both sides of the aisle, and while I identify as a socialist, I would rather have Kasich than Clinton. Watch at 3:22: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NGCbgb-RF4

Trying to be sane in an insane world is enough to make most people appear to be insane.
