Is this retirement day or what?

P.S. Maybe we should merge this thread with Farr's and make it a master thread for all House retirements.

Democrats should seriously contest the open seat in Wyoming. They probably won't win, but they almost did in 2006 and it wasn't a total blowout the last time the seat was open in 2008, so Dems should have a serious candidate in case anything crazy happens.

Who would be a credible candidate?

Mary Throne, Chris Rothfuss, Bernadine Craft, Dave Freudenthal (unlikely though).

Is Gary Trauner interested in running again?

2006 was a Dem wave year with a terrible GOP incumbent, and that still wasn't enough.  It's not going to switch now that Hillary Clinton's name is on the same ballot.

Does this mean that Lummis is done with politics? I always thought she would go for a senate seat once one opened up. Would she still do this?
Also, would Liz Cheney consider going for this house seat?

True to form, she was knocking Obama tonight on the Paris attacks. Probably pushes her closer to running, IMO.

Gary Trauner lost by more than a thousand votes even though he ran a strong campaign. If he talked to more people, he would've won because Barbara Cubin was a crazy nutjob.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you like about her?

My guess is, Lummis is going to be somewhat involved in this primary. She clearly does not like Liz Cheney, and I'm sure Lummis would prefer another successor.

Doesn't Hinojosa have the worst attendance record in the House, or am I confusing him with some other Texas Hispanic Dem? It's about time for that district to get some new representation.

According to this article, Hinojosa has the #10 worst attendance. John Conyers has the worst, missing more than 16% of this votes.

Lummis is one of the worst obstructionists in the House, so I am definitely not sad to see her go.

It would be funny if both Lummis and Farr were replaced by children of former SecDefs who used to represent those districts.
