He won reelection.  In Utah, once appointed, judges are subject to periodic retention elections in which they are the only judge on the ballot,  Only if a majority vote to get rid of the judge is ey gone.  88% of the voters voted to keep him in 2014 and his next election is in 2020.

No he's not as this is as clear cut a case of judicial overreach as ever has been.  The law of Utah is quite clear that fosterage by a lesbian couple is legal.  As a judge of the State of Utah, he gave an oath to follow the law of Utah in his rulings.  If he feels that the laws of Utah conflict with the laws of God to such an extent that he cannot follow both while doing his job as a judge of Utah and that the laws of God are more important, then he should stop trying to follow two masters and resign his position as a judge of Utah.
