The Yale incident is a long time coming. It's not just the e-mail, but a series of minor (and moderate) incidents against both minorities and women that have been building for months if not years. Honestly, though, my only observation is that my school (UW) hasn't seen any protests. We're definitely better than a lot of schools in terms of systemic racism and sexism, but everyone knows it's still there. And yet, as far as I know there haven't been any protests or strikes, just a few Facebook postings that have gone around.

Can you give concrete examples.

Of incidents at Yale? Sure.

If this best summarizes the Yale imbroglio, then why is it a protest against the administration as opposed to SAE which, as is well-documented before and after the Oklahoma incident , are a bunch of racist Neanderthals, and based on this behavior well-earned getting booted from (yet another ) campus?

Oh, and yes to changing the Calhoun Hall name. "Big dog" of history or not, he was an ardent slavery proponent and,  just as bad , the preeminent antibellum voice for succession and treason. There's little more reason to name a campus hall after him in a proudly Yankee patriotic state than there is to name one after Jefferson Davis (if Davis were also a Yale grad).

This was an immediately-debunked lie; the fraternity brother who was working the door at the party was himself black.

It doesn't matter that it was debunked.  These "catchphrase" incidents catch on and the protestors repeat them ad-nausem despite whatever facts are presented.  Think Sandra Bland.  They're still invoking her name despite the investigation which found she committed suicide.

As I recall, I called Dartmouth out for their vile ways about a week ago. Looks like I put them on the garbage school list just in time...

Considering that criminal charges could be filed for such behavior, suspension is pretty lenient.

Disgusting.  Nothing is going to happen though.  No administration has the balls to stand up to these kids.  If any action is taken against them it's going to be Mizzou all over again.  Actions really don't have consequences when it comes to them

Becoming? College students have been protesting and infuriating olds for decades. Remember Students for a Democratic Society?

And the protestors are not so much "infuriating olds", but terrorizing their fellow students.

I mean, god, the Youth used to protest for causes that made sense. They protested Vietnam, a truly horrible war a group of bad adults got us into. That's different from the modern age where college students have become AQUA TEAM WORD POLICE.

I wonder what actual black people think of this, because I'm not sure.

They're the ones instigating this, pushing this. Pushing society.

Sure but do you really think that youth protests in the Vietnam era were consistently narrowly focused, coherent, and directed at the proper officials?
