Legal, both recreational and medical (not paranoid over a drug that is less harmful than alcohol and doesn't make people aggressive; doesn't think the government should decide what people can smoke).

100% legal, no taxes other than sales taxes.  All sin taxes should be abolished, I don't hate poor people like nearly everybody else.

Marijuana is needed for medicine. If we keep ourselves under control with rec. Use, then yes, both rec. And medical purposes

A monarchical system with a King of Cannabis, the heir apparent being the Prince of Hashish, and other titles like Earl of Doobie being granted to the appropriate worthies,  The King would of course be crowned by getting stoned at Scone.

I voted legal only for medical purposes.  Marijuana is a dangerous drug, and we should not coddle a bunch of potheads who want to be able to light up any time they want to.  Do we want to be a clean nation where people live responsibly and productively?  Dope will rot your brain.

I think it should be regulated more or less like alcohol and cigarettes.  Certainly legal for recreational use as well as for whatever "medicinal" uses people perceive it to contain, with licensing and age restriction and taxed appropriately to support the public welfare.  We handle tobacco and alcohol this way, and marijuana does not seem so different.  For example, most states permit homebrewing of 100 gallons of beer per adult (of 18 years or older) per year and up to a maximum of 200 gallons per household annually.  Presumably the state wants its cut and if you're making too much beer it looks like you're intending to sell it.  Similarly, I think people can grow their own personal stash of weed, but if you grow more than a specified amount, then you become subject to licensing and regulatory fees.  All this creates a bureaucracy, but would it be any more expensive than the current policy?

Definitely legal for medical purposes, and I'm becoming more open to making it legal recreationally as well.  It has no business being a Schedule I drug, as science has shown that it has medicinal qualities.

How is it more dangerous than what's already legal?

Legal for recreational and medicinal use with regulations, restrictions, limits, etc. as like those that apply to alcohol and driving, for e.g.

I'm not a fan of "sin taxes" either, and I think there are better ways to deal with public health issues.

Legal to possess, consume, buy, sell, and grow. (Same for hemp).
Purchase age of 21. (Only b/c science shows it can affect developing brains).
Available for persons below 21 with a prescription.
Commission a study to offer proposed threshold amounts of THC to constitute DWI.
Require adulterated/baked marijuana products to display the THC content.
Protect 2nd Amendment rights of marijuana users.
Same commercial advertising rules as for alcohol. (Except for non-smokeable medicines).

A lot of people don't realize that legalizing pot will have disastrous consequences.  First of all more people will use it, and it is a gateway to harder drugs like cocaine and meth.  So then you have more people who can't get jobs because they are stoned and incompetent.  More crime too.  You want to talk about rising health care and insurance premiums?  All of us will be paying for those who want to get stoned.
This is a spoiled rotten generation that does not know what the WWII generation sacrificed.  As the WWII generation dies out, we get this generation that grew up without respect for law and order.

I feel like I would have found that gateway by now if it was as disastrous as you think. Have you ever smoked pot?

If smokers feel like getting off the couch.

A lot of people don't realize that legalizing pot will have disastrous consequences.  First of all more people will use it,
I live in the Netherlands and perhaps the number of people who tried pot is higher, but the amount of people who use it regularly does not appear to be that much higher than in countries where it is illegal.

and it is a gateway to harder drugs like cocaine and meth.
No it isn't.

So then you have more people who can't get jobs because they are stoned and incompetent.
No. Most regular users are responsible adults. In the Netherlands there are very few people who cannot get jobs because they are "stoned and incompetent".

No, actually a lot less crime: many crime is currently drug-related, including drug use and the selling of drugs. If that would be legal, it would by definition lead to less crime. By contrast, if drugs is illegal, people will of course use criminals to purchase it, and people selling drugs cannot use the rule of law to resolve conflicts, so they resort to violence. If it is legal, such violence does not exist. And the amount of people that wil perpetrate crimes to get marijuana is negligible, since it is really cheap if legalized. Such problems only exist with people who are addicted to "harder drugs", like heroin.

You want to talk about rising health care and insurance premiums?  All of us will be paying for those who want to get stoned.
So tax it. By the way, don't you drink? Don't you eat fast food? Don't you smoke?

This is a spoiled rotten generation that does not know what the WWII generation sacrificed.  As the WWII generation dies out, we get this generation that grew up without respect for law and order.

There's never an option for me! I want it to be decriminalized, but still illegal. That is to say, you won't go to jail for possession, but if caught with it you'll be fined and/or the goods confiscated from yourself!
 My reasoning:
1. Government is supposed to provide for the common defense and general welfare. It harms others for a nation to be filled with drug users who can freely and openly use them.
2. It is simply too expensive to have such a high incarceration rate.
