My prediction as of May 14, 2005 is...

Libs - 124
Cons - 102
BQ - 55
NDP - 26
Independent - 1

Prediction: Despite the predictions of pundits and hopeful New Democrats such as myself the NDP only pick up 3 seats nation wide bringing them to 22.

That's quite possible, but if you look at the numbers, it would be difficult. Remember: the NDP lost 12 seats by less than 1,000 votes. Also, Paul Martin had a big influence in those 12 seats not going NDP. I think the NDP can easily win 30+ seats. Where it won't happen is every province but Ontario and B.C. and NWT. (and maybe Saskatchewan)

I have a feeling that the Cons will con more votes away from the Libs than the NDP will... sadly.

Odder and odder... I'm surprised that these games are still being played, it looks like they have to play nice together til about February... that or the longest election in Westminister Parliamentary history.

Hey, did you hear Landry has decided to step down as PQ leader. That means Duceppe may replace him. Very interesting.

I think Duceppe wants to take the government down before he leaves, he may change his mind though and go into Provincial politics, not that the BQ is Federal politics. I only wish that were funny...

The poll also showed the NDP in #2 place in Ontario. Cheesy

Sadly, I'm beginning to doubt the accuracy of this poll now...

The NDP really should be gaining ground in Ontario from the Liberals, not losing ground as a whole. Lunatic strategic voting.

The good news is the slow and seemingly longterm rise in the Prairies; Saskatchewan could do anything this election (and yes, that exact statement about Sask could have been said at every Federal election since 1993...) and if the Dippers can poll what they're polling in the polls now come election, they could pick up a decent haul of seats there.
Or they could f*** up like last time...

Think the Libs will gain seats in the Winter 05-06 election?

I've really no idea... I think they could do in BC but I don't know about everywhere else.
Things are seriously confusing...

Try living here... Wink

I saw clips of Cadman's funeral on the news the other day, he was a pretty good guy, it's a shame he passed away.

I haven't seen any polls lately, do we have any information on any emerging general trends, or is everything still holding steady?

Perhaps since specifics are lacking we should talk in generalities. How about... why do you think the NDP preform relatively poorly nationally while they enjoy success at the provincial level?

I'll have a go at that when I've had some sleeeeeep...

lol. Fair enough.

One answer is the differences between provincial and the federal parties. It may be more difficult to make the switch.

LMAO, I saw those on TV the other day, quite a laugh riot. This just proves the Conservatives have given up trying to win elections. Liberal domination continues.

It's a darn shamed. The Liberals aren't much better. Canadians should wake up and smell the NDP Cheesy

Oh, I've been smelling the NDP for a long time; the scent is very distinct. Tongue

Coalminers, Steelworkers, and Lumberjacks, I bet you can smell a NDP gathering twenty klicks away. Wink

Elections aren't going to be until 2006 Lewis, so I think we should change the thread's name.

The elections could very well be this fall, depending on what happens in Parliament.

True, they're guarenteed between now and February 06.

February 2006 is what I have heard for the tentative estimate of the election. I believe the Gomery report is coming out in late January or February, giving us a early spring election. I think. I do think he'll pull a fast one though.

LMAO! Well done. Do the Conservatives have anyone that could take over the party? It would save them a lot of trouble.

I heard that too, it was an announcement to reduce press coverage... you got to love it.

I heard Brison might be chasing after the Liberal leadership following Martin. While I admit it's a possibility, I don't know if a turn coat would do really well in the role. Not to mention the whole English-Canadian thing.

I don't think he counts as a turncoat. His party was killed. He had to move to a different one anyway. I wouldn't mind a Scott Brison Prime Ministership, but I would rather a Belinda Stronach or a Sheila Copps Cheesy

Tongue

I'm hoping for Bill Graham, personally.

Hmmm... don't hear his name floated around that much.

He's a pipe dream of mine. One of the few competent Liberals... he'd never get the job.

I think its a trend seat, it was a close election, so that was a close seat, if the liberals slip she'll be in it deep. Animosity will have developed for her party swapping.
