Sanders should not have opened the debate talking about income inequality, it was a mistake for his campaign. The elephant in the room (and the opening prompt) was regarding the attacks in Paris, and that is all that should have been addressed. Clinton has the most foreign policy experience and commanded that entire section of the debate. Although Sanders did come back and concentrate on ISIS, I think it was too late to save the moment.
