U. of Mary Washington poll of Virginia, conducted Nov. 4-9:

https://www.umw.edu/news/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2015/11/UMW-VA-Survey-2015_Topline-Day-One.pdf

They give results for adults, RV, and LV.  I’ll just list the RV results, because I’m lazy.  If Webb runs as an Indy:

Clinton 41%
Trump 33%
Webb 16%

Carson 41%
Clinton 38%
Webb 13%

Sanders 36%
Trump 35%
Webb 19%

Carson 39%
Sanders 35%
Webb 17%

Now if Bush is the GOP nominee and Trump runs as an Indy:

Clinton 42%
Trump 27%
Bush 22%

I wonder what the county map would look like in that last scenario.

They only polled 3-way races... how odd is that, huh.

Does anyone seriously think Webb would get that much of the vote?

I doubt it. There was a PPP poll in 2012 that showed Virgil Goode getting 5% in Virginia. He ended up getting less than 1%, of course.

Trying to ebb Webb, are you? I've got news for you friend, he can't be ebbed. Because he's Jim Webb. Take that to the bank!

Webb would be a favorite son against two candidates with no obvious connections to Virginia. He well fits Virginia's political culture. He would do better in Virginia than just about anywhere else.

A Trump independent run would be glorious.
