Nope, I'd be shocked if any did. I actually did know of it long ago though due to it being the home of Senator Gillibrand.

Yes, and they've visited there, too. Together we had a nice lunch and a tour from one of its notable residents.

Does it have something to do with when the Mormons were in New York?

Yeah, I think my parents have been there. I probably have too, honestly.

When were you there? Back in the days when Warren Street was unsafe at night?

Does it have something to do with when the Mormons were in New York?

No, Hudson was founded by Quakers from Nantucket. It started out as a whaling port, and the alley in back of my house is named Rope Alley, because they manufactured long ropes along the alley for ship rigging. Brigham Young as a kid lived in nearby Durham for awhile across the river, before his family moved farther west to central New York. Supposedly Brigham Young when he was a carpenter still doing business with gentiles, built the fireplace hearth for William Seward in his home in Auburn, New York.

Gillenbrand lived in next door Greenport on Mr. Merino, which is where much of the bourgeoise of the area lives, enjoying magnificent views of the Hudson River from their hillside homes.

My daughter graduated from the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, so we visited Hudson more than once. Prior to the invasion it looked like a nice place.  Wink

Ah, we plan to have dinner there soon. Dan has a friend who is a professor at Vassar, and her hubby is an architect, so I can bore him with all of my pics of my architectural creations. Tongue

Dinner at the Culinary Institute's restaurants is beyond amazing.  Doesn't matter which one.  Enjoy.
