Assembly members this an amendment to the pioneering bill passed by Winfield and me back in April I think, and it's one of my proudest achievements from the Assembly. The former bill as you know set up a safety net for the most vulnerable in society, and ensured that they got the funding/resources that they needed.

Secretary Enduro suggested expanding this to include Veterans, so I proposed this legislation. I'm happy to negotiate on the funding if it's an issue-it's an increase of $30 million

Overall, I support this, but I'd like to add something:

Not sure how much money that would require so I haven't added anything in. Maybe something close to $60,000,000?

As the Secretary who suggested the bill I would like to say some words:

Veterans are the forgotten ones, they've risked their lives and spent several months away from their families, only to be tossed away as unimportant. This will be the first movement toward helping these brave men and women who deserve our respect and earned our gratitude. Please vote yes, thank you.

I'm not opposed to that - although the national constitution notes that the age of majority is 16 (anyone 16 and over is an adult).

Yeah, I support the overall idea here, and if we're to give preference to anyone, I think homeless, women, and vets should absolutely get it. It's pricy, but it's going to a good cause.

Do we have some sort of a job placement service or something like that for vets? I think that would be great. Granted, in RL they get huge preference in civil service type jobs which are decent paying and don't demand a lot of skill or knowledge, but otherwise IDK.

I keep forgetting about that for some reason.

Still, I think it would be a good idea to have a sort of two-year "safety period".

Debate is extended for another 24 hours.  Then, we'll move in a 48 hour-vote.

It might, but it definitely will if this amendment passes along with the law.

I'll have a look when I get back but I'm certain we already have foster homes/shelters for kids

I asked cinyc to look into it. He said that we probably don't have very many laws about the foster care system. If you're right, then I'd be happy to withdraw the amendment.

Final vote already? Aren't we supposed to be voting on the amendment first?

In either case, AYE

My mistake, but Gov. Blair deemed the amendment friendly by "supporting" it.
