That's embarrassing, and it's being pushed by Marco in the name of fear.

At least Senator Paul and Cruz have the stones to stand up for your ability to keep big brother from being on the third end of your phone call.

Trying to borrow the fear generated by ISIS is as almost as bad as actually being a terrorist.

I'm guessing that the right-wingnut base isn't particularly enamored of mass surveillance, although I'm not certain.

Given ISIS' threat to attack DC, will Rubio's fellow senators start calling him a coward for missing senate sessions?

I am glad to see Senator Rubio defend policies that have made us safer without violating civil liberties. I respect Senator Paul and think he has many positive attributes, but he is wrong on the Patriot Act and other aspects of homeland security. Ted Cruz tries to play both sides on this - he stood with conservatives on the Patriot Act, but stood with liberals on the vote Senator Rubio is referring to. If Ted Cruz can't stand up to liberals, how can he stand up to our enemies? He's weak and an opportunist.

Lol are people seriously still moaning over the NSA? I think there are more important issues than crying because your porn searches are in a huge database somewhere.

Brilliant. Cruz stakes out a position that is popular with the majority of Americans (and could potentially dent his general election image as an intransigent ideologue), and Rubio is dumb enough to highlight this "weakness" in a futile attempt to convince Cruz's base of his alleged heresy.

Seriously.  I hope Rubio tries attacking Cruz with this during a debate.  He would get destroyed.

Exactly, makes me want to support Cruz even more, standing for a constitutional alternative to what Rubio desired.

Most Americans, especially most conservative Americans, support the NSA. I have no idea what y'all are smoking.

In reality, its a mix. Americans want more security theater and "action" against terrorism, but oppose intrusive surveillance.

If NSA surveillance goes to the mat in the primary, my guess is that Cruz will trounce Rubio on this particular issue.

North Korea is a police state. Your internet search history metadata getting filed on a server somewhere where no one will ever look at it is only a police state in the oppression-porn fantasies of spoilt libertarian children.

Good for Rubio to present him as the more conservative candidate on one of the only issues where he and Cruz disagree.  Anything to keep us safe!

Rubio is a empty suit being pimped out by the Neocons.  Has Cheney endorsed him yet?

It's a slippery slope and still unconstitutional

Name one credible attack stopped by this program. One. It's completely and utterly useless, let alone the Fourth Amendment
