Can we please stop this farcical charade that we as a nation are ever going to give this guy the nuclear launch codes?

It is not unusual for someone to excel in one area and be clueless in another.  No they don't have to be an "idiot savant" nor an "affirmative action" hire in their main career.  In fact it is unusual to find someone who excels at two very disparate challenging fields.  Brain surgery is a tough demanding job.  It doesn't leave a lot of time to hang out on the internet reading political news about the middle east.  Ben Carson is as clueless about this stuff as a lot of physicians.  So really it's time for the racists of the forum to knock it off with the "affirmative action" stuff and the Ben Carson apologists to come to terms with the fact a brain surgeon is not necessarily the best choice for a president.

On a completely unrelated note Assad was training as an eye surgeon.

Don't worry. The Carson campaign has formulated a superb rebuttal:

The best case scenario is that the Carson campaign was actively trusting a senile old man with a small portion of their foreign policy team.

I'm pretty sure most of Carson's supporters don't give a rat's ass about foreign policy, but this could hurt him if he gets in a position to become the main anti-Rubio, since while the latter's views are despicable, he knows his stuff and could make Carson look like a total fool.

I hear you on vetting sources.  That's why I took this from a NYTimes article.  And numerous reputable news outlets have run the story.  It could be all BS by someone who is disgruntled... unfortunately though it pretty much matches up with everything we are seeing out the guy.

He needs to drop out. However, I fear Cruz will skyrocket in support if he drops out.

Wasn't Cruz your second choice after Rand?

The infamous Armstrong Williams (a longtime Carson advisor) has apologized for giving the NYT the contact information of this guy who blabbed about Carson's lack of "intelligent information":

http://www.businessinsider.com.au/armstrong-williams-ben-carson-nyt-story-2015-11?r=US&IR=T

Carson responds by throwing Williams under the bus ("He has nothing to do with the campaign"):

I wonder if Carson really understands who Dewey Clarridge is.
