Is this whole issue somewhat of a red herring, anyway? Since we already have at least 10 million "illegal" aliens in the US. Certainly a tiny % of the Syrian Refugees could be ISIL/Daesh,
but don't you think that there are already Daesh supporters here?

Yes, and many of them are likely U.S. Citizens who were born in the country or moved here as young children. Even racial/ethnic profiling will only help to a limited degree, as many ISIS/Daesh foreign fighters are converts.
