Source shall be given shortly

LAGOP has a sigh of relief. Should be an interesting Senate race.

I don't see any reason not to call this Safe R, honestly.

I was referring to St. Richard running for President six years after losing his Senate race.

Scott Angelle would've crushed Vitter in the primary. Now? He's probably one of many candidates in this race.

Do Democrats have anyone that could make a go at the seat, sans one of the Landrieus?

I would've put it to Likely R if Vitter had run for re-election, but its Safe R with anyone else.

Well that was awfully fast. I does kill tons of speculation, which is a big plus.

I see Angelle running for House in 2016 since I think Charles Boustany is going to run for the Senate.  And if he does, the seat is his, just look at the primary results he got 33% of the vote in the district.

Do you consider the Maryland Senate race next year Likely D for those reasons, too? (For the record: I do)

Yeah. I mean, Cardin "only" won by 8% in an open seat in a Democratic wave year. But the Democrats that have announced in Maryland so far aren't as inept as Brown was, and it's during a Presidential year. So I think Louisiana Democrats have a chance if they don't sh**t the bet with recruitment. They probably will though.

I don't consider the CA or MD senate races any less than Safe D. I'm thrilled that Edwards won, but let's be honest, it was a perfect storm. LA is not normally a competitive state.

Word on the street is that Charles Boustany will run for the Senate while Angelle runs to succeed him in the House.

Net positive for the Republicans, obviously, and the battle on their side will be very fun to watch.

Vitter pushed his luck, he would've cruised to re-election if he had never ran for Governor.

There's the possibility of a combination of Landrieu running + Trump/Carson/other crazy as nominee + weak Republican in runoff, so this is still Likely R and not Safe yet.
