Yeah sounding like George W. Bush circa 2003 intentionally. Wow.

Trump should just take that ad, and add the Trump logo and a voice over at the end: "And that's why you need to vote Donald Trump, so I can bomb the shit out of ISIS!"

I don't get why it's bad as measured by helpfulness in winning a GOP primary. That said, saying "I approve of this message" after the whole message has just been you talking sounds pretty silly.

He sounds so young and scripted and awkward.  I thought this guy was supposed to be a good, inspiring, passionate speaker?  He sounds like a GPS.

This Islamic terror is radical, dude!

I have to agree.  Rubio's tone of voice sounds weird and stilted.

Ew.

At least GWB had a sense of force and drive. A sense of strength. Rubio sounds like a Young Republican who takes himself way too seriously. Hopefully the more exposure he gets, the more the old white GOP base will realize he's not really their guy... Obama-lite.

What he's talking about is also why we need to get behind the candidate with the best experience to destroy ISIS: Hillary Clinton. Not this LOW ENERGY LOSER.

He could've just pulled a line from Cheney at the end and said "It ends with their complete and total destruction!"

Both Hillary and Rubio's foreign policies are to blame for the rise of ISIS.

President Obama has the adult approach -- avoid bluster, and look for opportunities to do the Bad Guys in. Don't discuss it until the deed is done.

He has let the French military do the talking with air strikes against ISIS targets. It was their terror and their grief.

Where is his gravitas, where is the power in his voice? It sounds so scripted and dull. Obama, Dubya, Clinton, and Reagan (dunno about HW Bush) all could project strength and gravitas in their voices. Rubio can't. Of course, I don't think Hillary or Bernie can either (Let alone Trump or Carson). And a powerful voice isn't everything. But it does help when you're trying to have a big, dramatic ad or speech.

Scripted and awkward is one of Rubio's two common speaking modes. The other is nervous and awkward.

He can sometimes fake charisma. I'd guess he does so via extensive rehearsal.

As I've said again and again, I think current popular picture of Rubio as "the" establishment candidate is wrong. He's a flavour of the month, and his time will soon be up. The longerhe stumbles onward without crashing, the worse the impact of his fall will be for the Republican establishment.

Was it just me or does it really remind you of watching a commercial about animal abuse.

Does Rubio have a lisp or did he just jumble his words?

No but if you listen closely there is some light piano and violin in the back.

I don't think it's the worst political ad ever, but it gets to a point that I've been thinking about - some of these campaigns are raising so much money that it's getting to a point where they are acting like they don't need to make good ads because we have enough to get more. Jeb's Super PAC has equally bad ads, all of Ben Carson's ads are so weird, Kasich's ad guy started strong and leveled off almost immediately (his recent ad stinks to high heaven). It's very striking to me that the consultants are ripping off candidates in an entirely new way.

Reminds me a bit of the feel of the "I'm not a witch" ad.

But honestly, the GOP base is gonna lap this up. Don't see this ad hurting him at all.

I think Clinton is the only one that's had unique or interesting ads this cycle. Everyone else's are either terrible or very by-the-book and nothing we haven't seen millions of times before.
