What a-bunch of hogwash !
He says that "it did happen," and that he "saw it with my own two eyes."
That "thousands, and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down."

"Thousands and thousands" ?!?!
Some (very few) people, maybe, but not "thousands and thousands."
You just cant believe anything that comes out of this clown's mouth.

Here is a video link on this via Real Clear Politics:

He also tweeted fabricated crime statistics earlier this afternoon, this crime bureau doesn't actually exist:

What the hell has happened to that party and to this country

I get that we didn't like Reagan and that the GOP has been going off the deep end for several years now, but Trump is on a whole new level.

And the worst part about it is that I don't think he believes a word of what he is saying. He's just saying it to get the power that comes with the Presidency.

There were not "thousands", but I do recall listening to Howard Stern's show from 9/12/2001 in which it was reported by a caller (and discussed briefly by Howard and Robin) that ten/fifteen people indeed did celebrate the attacks.

Nothing is wrong with this country or party. Trump isn't the next Hitler, he isn't going to deport people, and he isn't going to put Muslims in the camps. Take your pearl clutching somewhere else.

Don't believe that I said any of that. What I did say is that he's a whole new level of stupid, or at least he's playing to a whole new level of stupid.

I am now running with the theory that 99% of Americans currently suffer from mental illness.

This was a really popular conspiracy theory following 9/11.  I lived in New York back then and remember this stuff.
The other really popular one was that all the cab drivers knew about the attacks in advance and avoided going near south Manhattan.

Someone told then San Francisco mayor Willie Brown to not fly to New York on 9/11.

You're old enough to remember 9/11. That's reassuring for a newer member. Usually they don't-- if they were alive at the time. Smiley

Yeah, I was nine, just old enough to remember everything that happened and for the entire school to just be flooded with rumors and stories.
I have an enduring claustrophobia from all the stories and images I imagined of people trapped under the rubble.  After 9/11 there were tons of stories about firefighters searching through the rubble for trapped survivors.  It's really bad.  I got really uncomfortable during the last Hunger Games movie, when they're all underground.

It sounds like he is rehashing the dancing Israelis conspiracy theory.

And that's why he is going to be the Republican nominee.

"It did happen. I saw it," said Trump. "It was on television. I saw it."

First thing that came to mind here:

It seems Trump refuses to back-down on this issue.
Are we all now convinced that Trump is a fool and a liar.
There were no "thousands and thousands" of people cheering. He is a nut !

As reported by CNN today :

Numerous publications and local politicians have said Trump is incorrect.
Both Politifact and The Washington Post's Fact Checker analyzed Trump's claim.
Politifact rated it "pants on fire" and The Washington Post gave it "four Pinocchios."

Trump himself demanded an apology from The Washington Post later Monday linking to the 2001 article referencing murky reports of allegations of celebrating.
"Via @washingtonpost 9/18/01. I want an apology! Many people have tweeted that I am right!," Trump tweeted.

If he had any balls like he says he has, he would've given a more definitive response.

That makes sense. He  saw thousands of people in his state cheering 9/11 and then forgot he did.
